We're looking for a strategic technical leader to join our Technology team. Are you ready to be part of something amazing? Position Overview The Engineering Manager, Data & Systems Integration is a senior technical leader responsible for setting the architectural direction and technical strategy for two closely related engineering functions: Data Engineering and Systems Integration. This role is responsible for technical leadership—not day-to-day coding. Establish standards for ELT/ETL pipeline development across Shopify, marketplaces, ERP systems, and third-party SaaS platforms. Drive data modeling strategies that support business intelligence, analytics, and AI initiatives. Own the technical relationship with Microsoft Fabric and Azure, including resource management, capacity planning, and platform optimization. Establish and enforce data governance, quality, and documentation standards. Lead Systems Integration Architecture Define the integration architecture connecting Shopify Plus with Maxwood's SaaS ecosystem, including platforms such as Gorgias, Salsify, ParcelLab, Klaviyo, Constructor, and others. Establish integration strategies, API standards, error handling frameworks, and best practices. Review and approve technical designs before development to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Serve as the technical escalation point for complex integration and data flow challenges. Guide the team in building and maintaining reliable system integrations. Lead & Develop Engineering Teams Directly manage a team including a DBA, Data Engineer, and Software Integration Engineers. Provide coaching, technical mentorship, performance management, and career development. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, establish clear expectations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Partner with Product Owners on engineering capacity and prioritization while maintaining ownership of technical execution. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in data engineering, systems architecture, or a related technical discipline. Demonstrated experience setting technical architecture and leading engineering teams. Hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehouse platforms, preferably Microsoft Fabric and Azure. Advanced SQL skills and expertise in data modeling, including star schema, medallion architecture, and dimensional modeling. Experience establishing governance and best practices for ELT/ETL pipelines. Proven experience leading third-party systems integration using REST APIs and iPaaS platforms. 2+ years of engineering management experience with a track record of developing high-performing technical teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, and Warehouse workloads. Familiarity with Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI. Experience with integration platforms such as Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft, or Workato. Background supporting eCommerce or multi-brand retail organizations. Experience with Shopify Plus data architecture and integrations. Familiarity with dbt or similar data transformation frameworks. What Success Looks Like Within your first year, you will have: Built a data engineering organization operating with strong architectural standards, reliable pipelines, and a well-governed Microsoft Fabric platform. Established a scalable, well-documented integration architecture that supports Maxwood's growing SaaS ecosystem. Developed engaged, high-performing engineering teams that consistently deliver quality solutions. Created technical standards and architectural decisions that are documented, scalable, and trusted across the technology organization.
