Job Description

JOB Puget Sound Educational School District seeks an App Specialist 1 to support Data Services in the Early Learning program. This position will provide leadership in the development and maintenance of Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) and Head Start/Early Head Start data collection and reporting processes.

The Application Specialist 1 plays a key role in supporting and maintaining data systems that capture child, family, and program-level information. This position ensures accurate, high-quality data collection and reporting processes across multiple platforms.

In this role, you will provide leadership in managing the Early Learning enrollment process, coordinating data flow across a large, multi-provider, multi-site network. This position will support data analysis and reporting efforts by pulling and organizing data to inform program decisions and share outcomes effectively.

This role will also collaborate with managers to help them think strategically about how to use data systems in a more holistic and integrated way—supporting planning, continuous improvement, and decision-making.

Additionally, the Application Specialist 1 serves as tier two support for data-related systems, offering troubleshooting assistance and helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Purpose StatementThe job of Application Specialist 1 is done for the purpose/s of providing users with common software, training, troubleshooting, and guidance with common software. This job reports to assigned administrator.

Position is open until filled; please submit application before best consideration date of 4/29/2026. Phone screening will take place 5/7/2026 followed by first and second interviews scheduled for 5/13 and 5/19 respectively.

Essential FunctionsAssesses basic problems with spreadsheets and databases for the purpose of identifying and implementing corrective actions. Assesses and enters data for the purpose of providing accurate and complete records. Creates databases, spreadsheets, mail merges, documents, etc. for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties and/or tracking program progress and providing information for special projects and grants. Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization for the purpose of meeting the
Agency's End:
Success for Each Child and Eliminating the Opportunity Gap by Leading with Racial Equity. Provides structured and informal training/guidance for staff, including participating in structured walkthroughs and development of training/reference materials, (e.g. products, technology and application of technology, desktop software, enterprise application systems, etc.) for the purpose of providing for the ongoing staff development needs of Agency staff.

Serve as the conduit between internal/external customer community and software vendor teams for the purpose of resolving service incidents and ensuring best-practice utilization of complex software systems, maximizing the value of the systems to Agency users.

Support users on technical issues including problems related to enterprise networks, enterprise and applications, and for the purpose of resolving service issues and assisting business units in meeting strategic objectives.

Supports managers with utilization of platforms for the purpose of ensuring platforms are used to the fullest capacity.

Supports data analysis and reporting efforts by pulling and organizing data for the purpose of informing program decisions with effective outcomes. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. procedures, documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.

Provides assistance to the other Application Specialists and Data Technicians for the purpose of continuous improvement process: gathering information, writing user instructions, etc.

Serves as Tier 2 escalation point for the purpose of resolving complex desktop support issues.

Skillfully uses office and information systems and technology to streamline work activities. Seeks out ways to employ technology to optimize individual and organizational performance.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION 1.
Experience managing databases and reporting in an education or social service setting, such as Childplus, ELMS and/or Teaching Strategies GOLD database.2. Experience providing group and individual training on data systems use.
