GIS/AVOID Analyst Fort Rucker, AlabamaDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with government staff to prepare drawings or computer models of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring a high degree of precision. Performs challenging assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise. Ensures anticipated problems in design, installation, and operation are resolved through the drawings produced, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of design intent. Interprets general designs prepared by others to complete minor details and may provide advice to decision-makers or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects. Utilizes RFMSS, ArcGIS, and Range Manager's Toolkit (RMTK) to plan, coordinate, schedule, and develop standard and non-standard range requirements. Drafts, calculates, and submits SDZs and WDZs for approval by the appropriate authority for current and future weapons systems, training events, and munitions based on unit requirements and emerging fielding of new equipment. Manages the Command Tracker program and the AVOID database to support aviation operations and location tracking for garrison activities. Creates, analyzes, manages, and distributes standardized geospatial information, products, and services to support U.S. Army training execution at Fort Rucker, AL.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Esri ArcGIS Pro or higher. Proficiency in geodatabase management, editing, GIS data development, and standardization, including performing quality control on attributes, metadata, topology, and spatial accuracy. Experience running Spatial Analyst or 3D Analyst geoprocessing tools or scripts in ArcGIS Pro. Experience with in-field GIS data collection. Capable of producing high-quality customized cartographic and analysis products using ArcGIS. Experience conducting spatial analysis of vector and raster data types. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and understanding of the Office 365 environment.Desirable:
Familiarity with the U.S. Army Sustainable Range Program. Experience working with the SDSFIE geodatabase model. Experience working with LiDAR and remote sensing data, including processing of point clouds. Experience working with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and Portal for ArcGIS. Experience writing and troubleshooting automation scripts in Python for ArcGIS. Experience working in a multiuser versioned geodatabase environment. Experience using other GIS software such as ERDAS Imagine and QGIS. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Experience with MS Power Platform (Apps, Automate, BI).SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
US citizenship. Must be able to effectively communicate with military organizations, military leaders, and civilian leaders. Self-motivated with an independent work ethic, capable of prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to coordinate and build relationships with customers and provide technical GIS briefings to GIS users and managers through meetings, working groups, conferences, and outreach events. Strong reporting capability for compiling reports on GIS support activities. Ability to traverse rough terrain while carrying up to 40 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license and maintain installation driving privileges. Must be able to pass all security requirements IAW military installation Provost Marshall's Policy to gain access to the installation.Other Requirements:

The work environment consists of both office and field settings within the Fort Rucker Gunnery Range and Training Complex. The position may require frequent visits to range and maintenance sites, including exposure to noise, weather, and outdoor conditions typical of live-fire training environments.
