Competitive Base + Equity TECHNE is supporting a growing climate technology company in the search for a Satellite Applications Specialist to join their atmospheric science and remote sensing team, helping deploy one of the most advanced precipitation enhancement platforms currently operating globally. The company is developing a full-stack atmospheric water generation platform combining autonomous drones, proprietary radar systems, remote sensing technology, and advanced weather algorithms to induce and validate rainfall in real-time. Their technology is addressing one of the world's most urgent infrastructure and climate challenges: water scarcity. This role sits at the intersection of atmospheric science, satellite remote sensing, machine learning, cloud computing, and operational weather systems. You will own the satellite layer of the science stack, supporting real-time precipitation enhancement operations and next-generation atmospheric intelligence capabilities. You will work closely with meteorologists, software engineers, data scientists, and operational teams to deliver scalable satellite data workflows supporting live cloud seeding programmes across multiple regions.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead acquisition and integration of meteorological satellite datasets, including GOES, Meteosat, MODIS, Sentinel, and related platforms
- Develop and maintain large-scale satellite data ingestion and processing workflows
- Support atmospheric correction, quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE), and cloud phase classification activities
- Analyse cloud structures, precipitation intensity, humidity profiles, and atmospheric conditions for operational deployment support
- Develop and improve satellite-based algorithms alongside data science and meteorology teams
- Support target cloud identification, seeding validation, and precipitation enhancement analysis
- Contribute to real-time operational decision making across active cloud seeding deployments
- Collaborate across atmospheric science, software, sensing, and research teams to scale the science platform globally
Required Experience:
- Master's degree or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Remote Sensing, or related discipline
- Strong understanding of satellite remote sensing principles and meteorological systems
- Experience processing and analysing large environmental or geospatial datasets
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and distributed data environments

- Knowledge of machine learning or deep learning techniques applied to remote sensing or atmospheric science
- Experience operating across multidisciplinary technical environments
Desirable Experience:
- Quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) development
- Cloud phase classification or atmospheric modelling
- Operational weather systems or forecasting environments
- GPU acceleration, distributed computing, or vectorised data workflows
- Scientific algorithm development for satellite or radar applications
- Real-time environmental monitoring or Earth observation systems
- Experience supporting applied research or operational science deployments The Why?
- Opportunity to help define an entirely new category within atmospheric technology and climate infrastructure
- Work on operational remote sensing systems with direct real-world environmental impact
- Exposure to advanced weather radar, aerospace platforms, autonomous systems, and atmospheric science technologies
- Backed by leading climate and deep-tech investors with strong financial runway and long-term vision
