Job Description
Job Description The GIS Technician will support PG&E's Cloud Data Migration Program, focused on migrating enterprise geospatial data and services from Oracle Spatial to a cloud-hosted PostgreSQL/PostGIS environment. This role will be responsible for GIS data maintenance, quality control, migration support, testing activities, and operational documentation to ensure accurate and reliable geospatial information throughout the modernization effort. - Support inventory and assessment of GIS datasets, schemas, feature classes, and associated metadata.
- Perform GIS data editing, maintenance, and quality assurance activities.
- Assist with data migration validation and reconciliation efforts between source and target systems.
- Conduct spatial and attribute data quality reviews to identify discrepancies and resolve data issues.
- Support testing of migrated GIS datasets, services, and applications.
- Verify data completeness, schema compliance, and spatial accuracy.
- Assist with GIS service validation and functionality testing following migration activities.
- Maintain migration documentation, runbooks, inventory records, and operational procedures.
- Support deployment, cutover, and post-migration stabilization activities.
- Collaborate with GIS Analysts, Developers, and Project Managers to ensure deliverables meet project requirements.
- Participate in knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities.
- Support ongoing monitoring and issue resolution efforts within the cloud GIS environment.

- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Understanding of geospatial data structures, feature classes, domains, and topology.
- Experience editing and maintaining GIS datasets.
- Knowledge of data quality validation techniques and
GIS QA/QC
practices.- Ability to document processes and maintain technical records.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience supporting data migration initiatives.
- Exposure to PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
- Knowledge of utility GIS data models.
- Experience with FME or GIS ETL workflows.
- Familiarity with cloud-based GIS environments.
- Previous experience supporting electric utility clients.
