Job Description

Job Title:
Geospatial Analyst Summary/Objective:
GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.
Summary/Objective:
The Geospatial Analyst will play a key role in utilizing GIS software and tools to perform advanced spatial analysis and data manipulation. This position requires a deep understanding of geospatial analysis techniques, data management, and mapping principles to support and enhance surveying projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of applying geospatial technologies to solve complex problems and deliver high-quality geospatial products.
Essential Job Functions:
Utilize GIS software and tools to perform spatial analysis and data manipulation. Conduct advanced spatial analysis, including spatial modeling, network analysis, and terrain analysis. Process and analyze geospatial data collected from various sources, including aerial surveys, GPS, and satellite imagery. Develop and maintain geospatial databases and data layers for mapping and analysis purposes. Generate detailed maps, charts, and reports based on geospatial analysis findings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate geospatial data into surveying and engineering projects. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of geospatial data through rigorous quality control procedures. Stay updated on emerging geospatial technologies, tools, and industry trends. Provide technical guidance and training to junior geospatial analysts and other team members. Assist in the development and implementation of geospatial standards, protocols, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in geospatial analysis, preferably in the surveying or engineering industry. Previous coursework or experience in geospatial analysis, GIS software, and remote sensing techniques is preferred. Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms. Knowledge and experience in calibrating aerial LiDAR trajectories using Inertial Explorer and Spatial Fuser. Ability to navigate and work efficiently within MicroStation CAD software. Proficient with TerraSolid software suites, including TerraScan, TerraMatch, TerraPhoto, and TerraModel. Skilled in performing full aerial LiDAR calibration using TerraSolid tools, specifically with strong expertise in flight line matching. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data processing. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences. Familiarity with GPS technology and data collection methods is advantageous. Knowledge of spatial databases and data management principles is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work requires using a machete, shovel and sledgehammer, or other appropriate tools. Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. over rough terrain may be required. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of field equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Able to get in and out of vehicle multiple times a day. Drive 30 to 200 miles daily. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Due to the outdoor environment, there is potential exposure to natural hazards. It is required to work outside in all types of weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time. The terrain may be rough, steep, wet, or swampy. Vegetation may be dense, and insects, snakes, or animals may be encountered. Desk/Workstation may be located in a confined area. Able to work overtime and some weekends. Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven.
Safety Responsibility:
Adhere to all company and regulatory safety standards and procedures. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner. Participate in safety training and promote a culture of workplace safety.
Travel:
Some travel may be required.
Schedule:
Must be able to start the workday promptly @ 6:30 AM and be available until 6:00 PM if required. Overtime is mandatory.
Availability:
Able to work 40-65 hours per week, including evenings and weekends if required.
Pay:
$24.00 - $32.00 per hour
