Full-time position - Minimum 40 hours per week About the Supervisor of Elections Office The Supervisor of Elections Office is responsible for conducting elections, registering votes, and maintaining voter records. The office administers all federal, state, county, municipal and special district elections in Palm Beach County in accordance with the Florida Election Code, the federal Help America Vote Act, the National Voting Rights Act, the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and federal voting rights laws. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, qualifying county candidates for office; designating precinct boundaries, appointing, and instructing election boards, tabulating voted ballots and publishing results, providing statistics and results election analysis. About the Role Help power accurate, well-run elections through smart mapping and rock-solid data. As a GIS Specialist II with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, you'll own core geospatial datasets, turn complex information into clear maps and insights, and improve the workflows teams rely on to plan and execute election operations. Why This Role Matters Your work helps ensure precinct, polling place, and district data is accurate and easy to use—supporting operational readiness, transparency, and timely decision-making. What You'll Do You'll maintain and enhance GIS databases, produce print and web-ready map products, perform quality control and spatial analysis, and keep GIS synchronized with the Voter Registration System. You'll collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams, document standards and changes, and provide training and troubleshooting support. Qualifications Must-haves Bachelor's degree in GIS, computer science, geography, or a closely related field 5+ years of professional GIS experience Hands-on experience with Esri/ArcGIS and GIS database development/maintenance Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems (RDBMS) Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and communicate technical concepts clearly Preferred Experience with elections-related GIS and voter registration data Key Responsibilities Maintain critical GIS data: Build, update, and manage GIS databases using hard-copy maps, site plans, electronic datasets, and GPS data; maintain precinct and polling place datasets and geocoded points.
Keep data accurate and audit-ready:
Run QC (spatial alignment, attribute validation, topology checks), resolve issues, and maintain documentation, metadata, and change logs.
Create maps people trust:
Produce clear, accurate map products for precincts, polling places, districts, and operational needs—optimized for print and web use. Deliver insights through analysis and reporting: Perform spatial analysis and turn results into understandable maps and reports for internal partners.
Improve how work gets done:
Define standards for data input and map production; streamline and automate recurring tasks using tools, scripts, or models. Connect systems that must stay in sync: Maintain accurate data synchronization between GIS and the Voter Registration System.
Support and enable others:
Provide training and user support; collaborate across technical and non-technical teams; communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
Stay current:
