Job Title:
GIS Technician Job Description The GIS Technician will support various electric distribution projects and perform data maintenance tasks for complex and high-priority projects. This role involves using GIS and CAD software with moderate oversight to ensure the accuracy and completeness of electric distribution construction data. Responsibilities + Reference as-builts, work management logs, and other documentation to update GIS data reflecting completed electric distribution construction. + Identify data inconsistencies and communicate with relevant resources to provide accurate data updates to client systems. + Obtain and manipulate GIS data at state and municipality levels. + Participate in meetings with teammates, clients, and other stakeholders to collaborate and provide input. + Work in an Agile team environment, emphasizing collaboration and feedback to produce high-quality work that meets client standards. + Complete engineering design work and deliverables to the client. + Perform storm response work as needed. Essential Skills + Experience with GIS software such as Small World, Esri Suite (ArcMap, ArcGIS), QGIS. + Experience with CAD software such as Bentley Systems (MicroStation), Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D). + Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 0-2 years of relevant experience. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Willingness to perform both field and office work, with 10-20% overnight travel required. + Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform field data collection. + Ability to utilize a personal vehicle. + Knowledge of utility client standards is preferred. Work Environment The work environment is 100% field-based, requiring the GIS Technician to perform tasks in outdoor settings. The role may also necessitate some overnight travel and the use of a personal vehicle. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
