ORA_REMOTE Description SAIC is seeking a GIS Administration Cloud Engineer to support federal geospatial cloud-hosting clients in AWS, delivering high-availability ArcGIS Enterprise platforms across Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes. You will provide technical leadership and hands-on administration of ArcGIS Enterprise systems (installation, patching/upgrading, security) and design, automate, and maintain cloud infrastructure using IaC and CI/CD. The role suits a highly motivated engineer comfortable in a ticket-driven, service-oriented environment, collaborating with a distributed team and managing multiple priorities. Key Responsibilities Administer, configure, and optimize ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise on Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes in cloud-hosted environments. Support and enhance ArcGIS Enterprise architectures on EC2 and containerized (Kubernetes) deployments. Work in a ticket-driven support model (e.g., Jira), handling requests, incidents, and changes for federal geospatial hosting customers. Serve as technical lead for cloud infrastructure design, deployment, and maintenance (AWS, Azure, or other major clouds) for resilient, scalable GIS workloads. Implement and maintain IaC solutions (e.g., Terraform/Terragrunt) for automated provisioning and configuration of GIS and supporting components. Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) for ArcGIS Enterprise configurations, custom extensions, and infrastructure. Support and enhance ArcGIS for Kubernetes deployments, including cluster configuration, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with cloud and security teams to meet federal security and compliance requirements. Troubleshoot complex issues across application, OS, network, and cloud layers; perform root cause analysis and long-term remediation. Create and maintain documentation (architectures, SOPs, runbooks, configuration baselines). Work with internal and client stakeholders to gather requirements, propose solutions, and implement changes under formal change management. Participate in on-call or after-hours maintenance windows as required. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, Engineering, or related field; or 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of degree. 5+ years administering ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise in production, including: ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Data Store, and related components. Administration on both Windows and Linux. 3+ years as a Cloud Engineer with at least one major provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), including: Provisioning and managing compute, storage, and network resources. Implementing monitoring, logging, and backup for cloud-hosted workloads. Demonstrated familiarity with IaC (e.g., Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, ARM) and ability to design and maintain production IaC solutions. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), including integration of source control, testing, and deployment. 2+ years with Kubernetes (preferably production), including: Cluster configuration, management, and troubleshooting. Deploying and managing containerized applications. Experience in ticket-based support environments (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) managing incidents, service requests, and changes. Strong understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPCs, routing) for cloud-hosted applications and ArcGIS Enterprise. Ability to work independently, self-directed, managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Highly Preferred Skills and Experience ESRI ArcGIS for
Kubernetes:
Hands-on deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes. Knowledge of ArcGIS for Kubernetes architecture, scaling, and operational best practices.
Terraform/Terragrunt:
Production use for complex, multi-environment cloud infrastructure. Experience with module design, state management, and integrating IaC with CI/CD.
GitHub/GitLab:
Git workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews). Implementing GitHub Actions or GitLab CI for infrastructure and application deployments.
Cloud networking:
Designing/supporting AWS architectures, private/public subnets, security groups/NSGs, peering, and performance optimizations.
GIS enterprise architecture:
Designing scalable, highly available ArcGIS Enterprise for federal or large enterprises. Integrating ArcGIS Enterprise with external identity providers, databases, and application stacks.
Jira ticketing:
Experience with incident, change, and problem management. Familiarity with workflows, dashboards, and reporting for queues and SLAs. Preferred Certifications AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer. Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Esri certifications in geospatial administration or management.
Target salary range:
$120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
