JOB SUMMARY
To provide intermediate analysis and documentation of existing hospital and administrative procedures and recommend alternative procedures for improvement of work flow, either manual or automated, maximizing productivity and controlling costs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and three years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Blood Bank systems, preferably SoftBank/ SCC SoftBank.
  • Knowledge of Blood Bank workflows, including specimen processing, product management, compatibility testing, transfusion documentation, and result reporting.
  • Experience supporting LIS applications in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with Epic Beaker, instrument interfaces, middleware, and laboratory system troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to laboratory and Blood Bank operations.
  • Ability to work with laboratory staff, IT teams, vendors, and operational leadership to support system issues, upgrades, validations, and workflow improvements.
  • Experience with system testing, build documentation, issue tracking, and change control processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize operational needs.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS
  • Plans the study of current departmental systems.
  • Gathers and organizes information on system including present operating procedures.
  • Analyzes data and considers all available solutions, either manual or automated.
  • Organizes and documents study and prepares recommendations for implementation of new systems.
  • Conducts operational effectiveness reviews.
  • Conducts preliminary survey of vendor solutions.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Additional Duties:
LIS Operations:
  • Provide daily operational support for LIS applications, including issue investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Support Blood Bank system-related build, maintenance, testing, validation, and downtime procedures.
  • Assist with LIS system upgrades, patches, enhancement requests, and workflow changes.
  • Monitor and resolve interface-related issues between LIS, middleware, instruments, Epic, and external systems.
  • Work with laboratory departments to review, document, and improve system workflows.
  • Participate in testing and validation for new instruments, interfaces, orderables, result components, rules, and system changes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system build, testing evidence, procedures, and support workflows.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal IT teams for application issues, access requests, system changes, and project support.
  • Assist with regulatory readiness by supporting audit requests, validation documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Provide end-user support, training assistance, and communication during system changes or operational issues.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as needed for critical LIS operational issues.
  • Support reporting, data extraction, and operational analysis requests related to LIS and laboratory workflows.
