MSP Technical Team Leader Location:

IT / Network Operations Overview We're looking for a highly organized, technically strong Technical Team Leader to oversee client projects, guide a technical team, and ensure smooth delivery of managed IT services. This role blends hands‑on technical expertise , project leadership , and team coordination within a fast‑paced MSP environment. You'll be responsible for planning and executing client projects, mentoring technicians, improving processes, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across multiple customers. Key Responsibilities Project Management Lead planning, execution, and delivery of MSP technical projects (migrations, deployments, upgrades, cloud transitions, security initiatives). Develop project scopes, timelines, resource plans, and budgets. Coordinate with clients to gather requirements, set expectations, and provide regular updates. Track project progress, manage risks, and ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery. Maintain documentation, project plans, and post‑project reviews. Team Leadership Provide daily leadership to a team of technicians (Tier 1-Tier 3). Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure SLA compliance. Mentor and coach team members to improve technical and customer‑service skills. Conduct performance reviews and participate in hiring decisions. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Technical Expertise Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues. Assist with hands‑on work when needed (server, network, cloud, security). Review and improve technical standards, documentation, and best practices. Ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality technical solutions. Client Relationship Management Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them plan and prioritize IT initiatives. Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and strategic planning sessions. Identify opportunities for service improvements or additional solutions. Maintain strong communication and customer satisfaction. Operational Excellence Improve internal processes, workflows, and documentation. Monitor KPIs such as SLA compliance, ticket backlog, project profitability, and team performance. Work with leadership to refine service offerings and operational strategy. Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and industry standards. Required Skills & Experience 3-5+ years of experience in an MSP or IT services environment.
Strong understanding of:
Microsoft 365 / Azure Windows Server / Active Directory Networking (firewalls, switching, VPNs) Backup and disaster recovery Security tools and best practices Proven experience managing technical projects end‑to‑end. Experience leading or supervising technical teams. Excellent communication, documentation, and client‑facing skills. Strong organizational and time‑management abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field PMP, ITIL, or similar certifications. Microsoft, Cisco, or CompTIA certifications (AZ‑104, MS‑900, CCNA, Network+, Security+). Experience with PSA/RMM tools (Solarwinds, ConnectWise, Autotask, N‑able, etc.). Experience with budgeting, forecasting, or project financials. What Success Looks Like Projects delivered on time, within scope, and with high client satisfaction. A motivated, high‑performing technical team. Reduced escalations and improved service consistency. Strong client relationships and increased trust in the MSP. Well‑documented, repeatable processes that improve operational efficiency.

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
