Responsibilities Lead strategic short and long term planning for IT Infrastructure team including systems/server administration and Network/Telecommunications group. Set strategy, direction, policies, service level agreements and guidelines for all functions and operations to increase operational efficiency and ensure system security and responsiveness. Develop the annual IT Infrastructure strategic initiatives with responsibility for ensuring cost effective and accurate delivery of business operations and technology and systems solutions to support National Express within budgetary allocations. Manage key vendor relationships with respect to all core Infrastructure functions Participate as an active member of the IT Management team in decisions affecting the overall direction and strategy for IT to support the business. Act at all times in the best interests of the organization to introduce, update and maintain audit and other controls in systems and technology operations to minimize risks and ensure compliance. Interview, hire, and manage a team of individuals and set high performance standards in accordance with all applicable HR policies and procedures. Develop and coach staff while effectively addressing performance issues. Develop close working partnerships with others throughout the organization, including business partners in all corporate functions, as well as the field leadership team. Lead routine and ad hoc meetings to market, communicate, and discuss new, improved, or changing products, services, processes, and associated supporting systems, security processes and technology. Research and investigate new systems and technology for applicability to the National Express infrastructure. Assess cutting edge tools and applications to streamline systems administration, and telecommunications efforts. Recommend products and providers whose products strategically align with National Express interests and needs. Negotiate cost effective contract and service terms and oversee implementation of the systems applications into National Express platforms and operations. Ensure that system changes are effectively planned, scheduled, reviewed, approved and tested in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Manage deployments to ensure they run smoothly, giving notice to any affected users regarding system down times and/or communicating benefits of new systems. Lead and manage process and quality initiatives to continually raise the IT Infrastructure support standards to meet evolving regulatory, audit, risk and compliance rules and regulations. Manage the highest level of escalated systems issues, and approve actions providing guidance and leadership as needed. Represent the company in relationships with vendors, major clients, and other key outside parties. Ensures security policies, standards and procedures are followed within the teams Provides guidance to analyzing and evaluating networks and security vulnerabilities, and manages security systems such as anti-virus, firewalls, patch management, intrusion detection and encryption on a daily basis. Recommend security solutions as appropriate to the VP of IT. Assists with vendor management effort and coordinates with business partners during vendor selection. Develops and manages professional relations with business partners in respect to information security and compliance. Maintains relations, consults and guides business development using security best practices. Assists with management activities relating to corporate incidents, contingency planning, business continuity management and IT disaster recovery in conjunction with relevant functions and third parties. Assists with business planning, strategic planning and budgeting process. Other duties may be assigned to meet ongoing business needs.
Qualifications Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Advanced degree strongly preferred. A minimum of 10 years related experience in a major IT division with technical expertise in a variety of systems, tools and technology. A minimum of 5 years IT management/leadership experience, including experience with management of software, policies and procedures
Other Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of IT systems and corresponding policies/procedures Appropriate professional certifications preferred (ex. ITIL, CISSP or CISM, etc.) Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook Position is required to travel between sites as needed At National Express our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative of the communities we serve.
