Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager to lead a hands-on technical leadership role in a custom steel-casting and machining environment. The Technical Manager makes sure customer specifications are translated into workable manufacturing and inspection processes, supports quoting and cost/feasibility reviews, leads technical problem-solving, and partners closely with Operations and Quality. The role can place production or product on hold when necessary to protect quality and can oversee technical documentation, KPIs, budgets, equipment readiness, and continuous improvement. What makes the role distinctive This manufacturer offers large, complex, engineered steel and specialty-iron castings for demanding markets including rail, military, heavy equipment, oil and gas, and power generation. Work is varied rather than routine: metallurgy, material grades, casting processes, welding, inspection/NDT, heat treatment, customer specifications, and production troubleshooting may all come into play. Foundry experience is desirable; strong metals-manufacturing technical experience may transfer. NDT Level III is not stated as a requirement in the job description; intake notes suggest NDT/welding knowledge can be developed and certification may be supported. Desired Candidate Profile Preferred degree in metallurgy, engineering, manufacturing, or similar; 3-5 years in manufacturing supervision/management; 3-5 years in a technical metals-manufacturing role; experience managing people across varied functions, budgets/reports, technical documents/specifications/standards, lean manufacturing, and capital projects. Foundry operations knowledge is desirable.
