IT Lead - Legal Operations Technology Aptiv parental leave, paid time off, tuition reimbursement United States, Michigan, Troy 5725 Innovation Drive (Show on map) Jun 03, 2026 Position Summary The IT Lead - Legal Operations Technology is responsible for enabling the technology strategy, delivery, and ongoing support of systems that enable the Global Legal & Compliance (GLC) function. This role operates within IT and partners closely with Legal Operations to ensure that legal technologies, platforms, and data capabilities are scalable, secure, and aligned to enterprise architecture and standards. The role focuses on technology enablement, including roadmap development, system optimization, vendor engagement, digital transformation initiatives, and delivery of high-quality IT services supporting legal processes. It does not own business operations, but instead provides technical leadership and execution in support of Legal's priorities. Key Responsibilities 1. Legal Technology Strategy & Roadmap Support the development of a multi-year technology roadmap for Legal & Compliance systems in partnership with Legal Operations
Translate Legal business needs into scalable, enterprise-grade AI-enabled IT solutions
Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards
Identify opportunities to modernize and streamline legal technology platforms and integrations 2. Application & Platform Ownership Act as the IT owner for Legal technology platforms (e.g., ELM, eBilling, Legal Holds, Compliance tools) with proficient understanding of legal processes in litigation, matter management, billing, and contract administration
Oversee system configuration governance, enhancements, and lifecycle managementEnsure system reliability, performance, and data integrity across platforms
Drive standardization and simplification of the Legal application landscape
Manage the GLC SharePoint site as it relates to knowledge management and dissemination 3. Service Delivery & Operations Provide governance over day-to-day support operations, including internal teams and managed service providers
Manage SLAs, KPIs, and service performance to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery
Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
Coordinate release management, testing, and environment readiness 4. Project & Program Delivery Lead delivery of Legal IT projects and enhancements, ensuring alignment to scope, budget, and timelines
Partner with Legal Ops to support technology program execution and prioritization
Drive structured project delivery using IT PMO methodologies and governance
Support business case development, cost estimation, and investment planning 5. Data, Reporting & Analytics Deliver and maintain reporting and analytics solutions supporting Legal operations and decision-making
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across Legal systems
Partner with data and analytics teams to enable dashboards, forecasting, and ad-hoc reporting, including data analytics 6. Vendor & Technology Evaluation Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of Legal technology solutions
Support RFI/RFP processes, vendor assessments, and contract alignment (from a technical perspective)
Manage vendor relationships focused on technical delivery, integration, and service performance 7. Integration & Architecture Ensure seamless integration between Legal systems and enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, HR, Finance, Identity)
Define and maintain integration standards and patterns
Collaborate with enterprise architects and integration teams to ensure scalability and compliance 8. Continuous Improvement & Digital Transformation Identify opportunities to automate legal processes and improve user experience
Drive adoption of new capabilities, tools, and technologies
Stay informed on legal technology trends and best practices and translate into actionable IT initiatives Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
8+ years of experience in enterprise IT application delivery and support
Proven record of driving technology adoption and operational process
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI
Proven experience in:
Supporting global legal functions and understanding core legal tasks and processes such as matter and litigation management, contract lifecycle management, compliance reporting, etc.
Application ownership and lifecycle management
IT project/program delivery
Vendor and service management
Technical solution design and implementation
Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, integrations, and data flows
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Local residents (or those willing to relocate), with the ability to work onsite in Troy, MI Must be legally able to work in the United States without requirement of any type of visa sponsorship or transfer now, or at any time in the future Preferred Experience with Legal technology platforms (e.g., Onit, BillingPoint, Legal Tracker, SAI, iCertis, DocuSign CLM, NAVEX, Diligent, or similar)
Experience in Legal AI tools (e.g. Harvey, Legora, Claude for Legal, Co-Counsel, etc.)
Experience supporting and driving adoption of AI-enabled tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms) to improve productivity and business outcomes
Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
Experience working in a global, matrixed organization
