Director of Technology - Spokane R-7 Schools
•-- Job Summary The Spokane R-7 School District is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Technology to lead and oversee the district's technology infrastructure and security systems. Under the supervision of the Superintendent, this role serves as the chief architect, engineer, and problem-solver for all technology-related initiatives within the district. The successful candidate will manage a small but vital department, ensuring the integrity, security, and efficiency of digital systems that support teaching, learning, and administrative operations. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong IT management skills, expertise in cloud infrastructure, and the ability to develop and maintain robust technical architecture.
•-- Responsibilities Lead the planning, development, and implementation of district-wide technology strategies aligned with educational goals. Manage day-to-day IT operations including network administration, hardware and software support, and cybersecurity measures. Oversee the district's cloud infrastructure to ensure reliable access and data security. Serve as the primary problem-solver for technical issues affecting district systems, providing timely resolutions. Act as the chief architect for technical infrastructure projects, designing scalable and secure solutions. Maintain maximum network uptime by proactively monitoring systems and implementing preventative measures. Oversee physical security infrastructure related to technology assets to protect district resources. Collaborate with school administrators and staff to identify technology needs and support instructional technology initiatives. Manage a small team consisting of yourself and one technician, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development. Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve district systems.
•-- Requirements Proven experience in IT management within an educational or similar large organizational setting. Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure services and management. Expertise in technical architecture design for complex networks and systems. Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects from conception through implementation. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system maintenance and security. Effective communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including staff, students, and administrators. Ability to manage a small team efficiently while prioritizing multiple responsibilities. Relevant certifications or degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields are preferred.
