Job Description

The Technology Services Manager Institutional Technologies is responsible for the operational management, service delivery, and lifecycle oversight of institutional endpoint and classroom technology systems that support the academic and administrative mission of the university. This position oversees the deployment, maintenance, and support of university-owned client technologies including PCs, Macs, laptops, printers, and associated peripherals, as well as event spaces, classroom and instructional audiovisual (AV) systems.

The role ensures that technology services are delivered in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs), operational standards, and institutional priorities. The manager coordinates service delivery processes, improves operational efficiency, and provides leadership for staff responsible for supporting endpoint and classroom technologies. As classroom technology services expand, this role will supervise AV technical staff and ensure reliable technology support for teaching, learning, and campus operations.

This position works collaboratively with infrastructure, applications, security, academic technology, and support teams to ensure consistent and effective technology services across the university.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Technology ManagementOversee the operational support and lifecycle management of university endpoint technologies including PCs, Macs, laptops, printers, and related peripherals.

Ensure reliable support and maintenance of classroom technology and audiovisual systems across campus.

Coordinate deployment, configuration, and replacement strategies for institutional devices.

Develop and maintain operational procedures and service standards for client technology support.

Required QualificationsBachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Experience supporting enterprise desktop environments including Windows and macOS systems.

Experience managing or coordinating technology support services.

Experience supporting or working with audiovisual technologies.

Strong organizational, communication, and service management skills.

Preferred QualificationsExperience in higher education technology environments.

Experience supervising technical staff.

Experience with endpoint management systems (e.g., Intune, Jamf, SCCM, or similar tools).Experience managing technology service workflows or IT service management platforms.

Physical RequirementsAbility to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.

Ability to move around campus facilities, including classrooms, offices, and event spaces, to support technology systems.

Ability to operate and inspect computers, AV equipment, cables, and other technical devices using hands, wrists, and fingers.

Ability to lift, carry, or relocate equipment such as computers, monitors, projectors, or similar items weighing up to 2535 pounds.

Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, or climb short ladders as needed during installation or maintenance of technology or AV equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through digital channels to support end users and direct staff.

Travel RequirementsLimited travel may be required between campus buildings and offsite university locations to support technology operations.

Occasional travel for professional development, training, or vendor meetings may occur as needed. Must be able to reliably commute to campus and move between facilities as part of daily responsibilities.
