GENERAL SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Information Technology supports the planning, management, and operation of Housing New Mexico's IT infrastructure, systems, and technology services. This role assists the IT Director in developing technology strategies, overseeing daily IT operations, managing three staff, ensuring cybersecurity and data protection, and supporting organizational goals through effective technology solutions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Assist in directing the activities of the department, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or offerings. Assist in coordinating the process for evaluating software development decisions. Assist in software application development and installations. Assist in audit and budget activities. Assist in maintaining the hardware replacement plan and implementation as needed. Ability to install, configure, and maintain IPS.IDS, Firewall, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam and Anti-Malware. Assist in the management of the department budget to ensure the distribution of resources necessary to maintain department operations and hardware, software and technology infrastructure organization wide. Conducting quarterly reviews, annual evaluations, aligning team goals and fostering a collaborative environment. Perform limited duties as assigned in the absence of the Director, including managing and directing department staff. Provide support to the helpdesk and programing teams and assume their daily duties when necessary, during department staff absences or peak workloads. Provide technical assistance to staff and users with respect to the use of the Housing New Mexico equipment and resources. Be available to department staff to facilitate individual and collaborative work efforts. Manage the department's internal controls to include assessment of audit concerns and/or findings and resolution options. Represent Housing New Mexico at various initiative meetings and public/private events. Attend training, read publications, and employ other measures to maintain current knowledge of department projects and initiatives. Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, and protocols. Education and Experience A Bachelor's degree is required, master's degree preferred with concentration in Computer Science or Computer and Information Technology field. Must have a minimum of three years of managing IT teams. Network administration experience is a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and
ABILITIES
Experience with TCP/IP interactions in Local Area Network and Virtual Private Network, Active Directory, Windows File Server including File Share, Exchange Server, SQL Server, network printers and scanners, and IP Phone Systems. Ability to configure, assemble, maintain and troubleshoot hardware (desktops, laptops, servers, switches, routers, firewall, telecommunication devices, etc.) and software platforms. Strong knowledge of all IT security aspects related to networking, data and the internet, including disaster recovery. Develop and write reports, policies, and correspondence. Decision making, management and leadership skills. Experience in budgeting and allocation of resources. Ability to manage complex projects Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of industry best practices. Ability to adapt to changes in work situations and priorities. Exercise good judgement. Collect, organize and interpret data.
