Requirements Strategy and Planning Lead the company's strategic and operational planning efforts by fostering innovation, planning, and organization of IT resources. Collaborate with internal stakeholders as determined in consultation with Vice President of Administration (VPA) and President, to develop and maintain an IT roadmap to contribute to organizational success. Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems. Conceive, develop, and deliver equipment, techniques, practices, and procedures to meet the business objectives of the company including productivity standards and timelines, including integration of AI software Identify emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization. Design, develop, implement, monitor, and coordinate policies and procedures for all areas of information technology. Build and mentor a high-performing and proactive IT team aligned with strategic goals. Procure all IT equipment and devices and assist with procurement and management of all software. Technical Expertise Keep current with the latest technologies, including the latest developments in the AEC industry, to maintain a competitive advantage and enhance user productivity through implementation of new technology Keep current on capabilities of file management software (Egnyte). Leverage outside technical expertise to ensure a high level of security, productivity, and overall user satisfaction at all times. Ensure high availability, scalability, redundancy, and security of systems across all business units. Operational Management Lead all aspects of the day-to-day operation of company's information technology and functional data systems, including software applications, network, storage, printers, copiers, phone systems and end-user computers. Anticipate, coordinate, and oversee system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages. Ensure security of IT assets, data, network access, and backup systems. Manage outside IT service providers. Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and protocols to protect data and systems. Develop SOP with VPA to allow timely management of user accounts (creation or deletion) and timely notification of outside IT service providers. Manage system file management software (Egnyte) contract. Budgeting and Financial Control Prepare long and short-term plans for acquisition of equipment, system development, and ongoing data management. Assure responsiveness of long-range plans to corporate objectives, including preparation of an annual IT budget for hardware, software, and providers, including necessary replacements, maintenance, and renewals. Evaluate and recommend agreements for outside services, including data communications, cabling, offset data storage, equipment maintenance and repair, software support, and other services. Monitor and analyze trends in contractual agreements regarding performance, end user experience and make recommendations for their improvement. Administer agreements with outside vendors and assure quality and cost effectiveness. Establish and monitor measurable financial, time and service goals for outside IT provider accountability. Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment. Maintain records of inventory and distribution locations and develop SOP with VPA and accounting to track all company IT assets, including all servers, switches, computer hardware, computer software, printers, plotters, desk phones, and cell phones. High Level of End User Experience Lead communications and working relationships between IT and other departments within McGill and outside IT service providers. Effectively communicate IT strategies, improvements, policies, and issues through VPA, President, and HR Director to all levels of staff and leadership. Plan and execute upgrades and necessary service interruptions to occur during non-business hours such as nights and weekends. The IT Director is expected to coordinate team travel to all of McGill locations as needed to ensure high level end user experience and proper operations. The IT Director shall be available and responsive to service interruptions, whenever they occur, and manage the response and repairs. During such events the IT Director shall be responsible for communication with the affected individuals, VPA and President. Reporting Provide regular or immediate reports to VPA and President on: The health and status of the company's business critical IT assets. IT strategies, projects, and implementation status. IT financial position vs. capital and operating budgets. Level of service being provided, outages, recovery efforts and operational issues including the performance of outside IT providers. Negligent use or other behaviors that could potentially or otherwise harm, damage, or threaten the IT systems, security, or that falls outside of policy or that are inconsistent with the business interests of the company. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or management information systems, in addition to 10 years of progressive IT leadership or an approved equivalent of extensive experience and training preferred. Extensive knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and software applications. Familiarity with IT security best practices and compliance requirements. Ability to develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business goals. Valid driver's license. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with employees, managers, and outside vendors. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
