The IT Manager will spend most of the role supporting users, administering systems, troubleshooting issues, maintaining infrastructure, and leading a small IT team through daily priorities. At Heritage Community Credit Union (HCCU), we're more than a financial institution. Our mission is to help our members achieve their financial dreams, and we do that by fostering collaboration, delivering meaningful results, and staying deeply connected to our community. We're proud to be known as "The HCCU Crew," where each team member is valued, supported, and empowered to grow. Join us and be part of a forward-thinking organization that's transforming financial futures, one member at a time. About the Information Technology (IT) Manager Role Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the IT Manager is responsible for the reliable day-to-day operation of HCCU's technology environment. This position combines strong technical problem-solving with practical supervision of a small IT team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly in systems, responding to escalated support needs, completing technical maintenance, coordinating vendors, and keeping daily IT work organized and moving forward. This role may provide input on technology planning, but its primary focus is operational execution, technical support, system administration, security, documentation, and service to employees. The position follows a hybrid work arrangement with required on-site and required remote work and is based in the Sacramento area. Key Responsibilities Provide hands-on technical support for employee hardware, software, access, connectivity, printing, Microsoft 365, and line-of-business applications. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex help desk and infrastructure issues; troubleshoot root causes and follow issues through resolution. Administer and maintain Windows servers, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Group Policy, file services, virtualization, and related infrastructure. Monitor and support networks, firewalls, switches, wireless systems, VPN connectivity, internet services, and telecommunications in coordination with vendors as needed. Manage endpoint configuration, patching, software deployment, antivirus/endpoint protection, device inventory, and workstation replacement activities. Support HCCU systems and integrations, including core banking, online/mobile banking, Salesforce, databases, third-party interfaces, and other financial-services applications. Perform routine system administration, including account provisioning, permissions, certificate renewals, backups, scheduled maintenance, log review, and capacity checks. Coordinate and validate backups, recovery procedures, disaster recovery technology, and system availability; participate in recovery testing and issue follow-up. Apply practical cybersecurity controls, investigate suspicious activity, remediate vulnerabilities, and support compliance obligations such as GLBA and PCI DSS. Plan and execute smaller upgrades, migrations, equipment replacements, and technical improvements while assisting the CIO with larger projects. Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, inventories, procedures, support records, and change information. Supervise a small IT team by assigning daily work, reviewing open issues, removing roadblocks, coaching employees, and reinforcing responsive customer service. Coordinate support cases and technical work with managed service providers, software vendors, and other third parties; verify that issues are resolved rather than only reported. Act as the IT lead for projects, coordinating technical tasks, troubleshooting issues, working with vendors, and helping ensure successful implementation. Communicate outages, maintenance, risks, and issue status clearly to employees and leadership. Technical Skills and Experience Five or more years of progressively responsible, hands-on IT support, system administration, or infrastructure experience preferred. Practical experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Entra ID, and Windows endpoints. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networking, firewalls, switching, and network troubleshooting. Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and with backup, recovery, monitoring, and endpoint-management tools. Ability to troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, applications, authentication, permissions, certificates, network connectivity, and system integrations. Experience supporting business-critical applications and working with software vendors to diagnose and resolve issues. Working knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including least privilege, multifactor authentication, patching, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, logging, and incident response. Experience in a financial institution, credit union, bank, or other regulated environment is strongly preferred. Familiarity with core banking and digital banking systems is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience and relevant certifications will be considered. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, VMware, or Cisco are helpful but not required. Leadership and Work Style Experience leading, supervising, or coordinating the work of a small technical team. Willingness to remain hands-on and personally assist with tickets, maintenance, installations, troubleshooting, and after-hours support when necessary. Strong service mindset with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to nontechnical employees. Organized, dependable, and able to balance interruptions, recurring operational work, and multiple active priorities. Good judgment in escalating security, availability, vendor, or compliance concerns to the CIO. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees, leadership, and external partners. What We Offer Annual salary range: $90,000-$133,000, based on experience and skills Corporate bonus program 401(k) with company matching Medical, dental, and vision insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Life and long-term disability insurance Voluntary insurance options Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Paid holidays, vacation, and sick time Participation in Credit Union-sponsored events A collaborative, respectful, and welcoming work environment Ready to Make an Impact?
