IT Revenue Cycle Optimization Manager Waterbury Hospital - 3.4 Waterbury, CT Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Medical claims processing software IT experience within healthcare Hospital experience IT department experience Full Job Description Position Summary The IT Revenue Cycle Optimization Manager serves as a strategic and operational liaison between Information Technology and Revenue Cycle departments within a community-based acute care hospital. This role is responsible for the support, maintenance, and continuous optimization of revenue cycle systems, with a primary focus on the health system's revenue cycle platform and its integrated applications. The position ensures timely resolution of system issues, enhances workflow efficiency, and collaborates with both operational and technical stakeholders to drive improvements in revenue cycle performance, accuracy, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day technical support for revenue cycle operations, including Patient Access, Health Information Management (HIM), Billing, Coding, and Collections. Oversee and manage IT Revenue Cycle Analysts, ensuring effective workload distribution and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues ("break-fix") related to Cerner Millennium and associated revenue cycle workflows. Support and maintain integrated third-party applications, including 3M Grouper and SSI Claim Scrubber. Serve as a liaison between revenue cycle teams, IT staff, and external vendors to ensure system reliability and timely issue resolution. Analyze system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable, long-term solutions. Assist with system configuration, testing, upgrades, and optimization initiatives. Monitor system interfaces and ensure data integrity across all revenue cycle platforms. Support claims processing workflows, including edits, scrubbing, coding validation, and reimbursement logic. Develop, maintain, and update documentation for workflows, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Participate in revenue cycle performance improvement initiatives and IT-driven projects. Deliver end-user training and ongoing support for revenue cycle systems. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, coding standards, and organizational policies.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience:
5 years of experience supporting healthcare IT systems with a focus on revenue cycle operations. Hands-on experience with Hospital Revenue Cycle systems required. Experience with revenue cycle tools such as 3M Grouper and/or SSI Claim Scrubber strongly preferred. Working knowledge of healthcare billing, coding standards (ICD-10, CPT), and claims processing workflows. Technical Skills Strong understanding of end-to-end revenue cycle processes, including registration, coding, billing, claims management, and reimbursement. Experience with EMR system configuration, maintenance, and support. Knowledge of system interfaces, data workflows, and structured troubleshooting methodologies. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex system and workflow issues. Proficiency in SQL, reporting tools, or data analysis techniques (preferred but not required). Collaborative approach with a strong customer service orientation. Work Environment On-site position within a hospital setting with remote work options as deemed appropriate by leadership. May require occasional after-hours support for system maintenance, upgrades, or issue resolution.
