Job Description
Seeking an accomplished Vice President of Software Development to provide strategic and operational leadership across its software engineering organization. This executive will guide the company's development strategy, oversee technical architecture and product delivery, and build high-performing engineering teams capable of supporting continued growth. Working closely with executive leadership and other cross-functional partners, the Vice President will help establish and execute the technology roadmap while ensuring software solutions remain scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with the organization's long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Strategy and Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive software development strategy aligned with the company's business objectives and broader technology vision. Partner with executive leadership to establish and advance the technology roadmap, balancing innovation, scalability, operational priorities, and customer needs. Monitor emerging technologies, industry developments, and software engineering trends to evaluate their potential impact on the organization. Engineering Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software engineering organization that values accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Recruit, onboard, and retain highly qualified software engineering professionals whose skills support both current priorities and future technology needs. Promote an agile and collaborative environment in which teams are empowered to take ownership of their products, decisions, and results. Software Delivery and Product Development Direct the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement. Ensure complex software products and enhancements are delivered on schedule and meet established quality and performance expectations. Collaborate with product management, design, and other stakeholders to define product requirements, functionality, and user experience. Establish and maintain effective practices, processes, and tools for project management, coding standards, testing, and quality assurance. Technology and Architecture Provide direction on software architecture and technical standards to support the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of all software products. Advance the use of modern software development approaches, including cloud computing, microservices architecture, and DevOps practices. Ensure technology resources and infrastructure are used effectively while optimizing system performance and managing costs. Resource and Budget Management Assess and implement appropriate software development tools, platforms, frameworks, and technologies. Make informed resource-allocation decisions that balance innovation, business priorities, operational needs, and budget limitations. Risk, Security, and Compliance Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical and operational risks throughout the software development process. Ensure software products and development practices comply with applicable regulatory and organizational requirements. Establish cybersecurity and data privacy best practices to proactively protect company systems and customer information. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred. At least 10 years of progressive software development experience, including a minimum of five years in a senior leadership position. Demonstrated success leading the development and delivery of complex software products within a technology-driven organization. Strong knowledge of modern software development methodologies and practices, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps. Expertise in cloud computing, microservices architecture, and contemporary software engineering practices. Experience managing budgets and allocating resources for large-scale software development projects. Strong leadership, communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting or implementing product-led growth strategies. Hands-on experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, including .NET and Microsoft SQL Server.Pay:
