Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church Job Description Worship Production and Technical Director Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church is located on the corner of US Business 17 and Pine Avenue in Garden City, SC. We are a growing and active congregation that most recently celebrated our 50th Anniversary. Out of necessity, due to the
COVID-19
Pandemic, our church developed its digital presence 6 years ago. This change focused our attention to holding both our regular in-person Worship Services each weekend, as well as offering live streaming services of both our Contemporary and Traditional Services each Sunday. We also have our digital footprint with various social media outlets, including Facebook and YouTube. Over the last several years, we have had several new partners (members) join our congregation who live out of our area through our digital footprint. One of the Basic Premises of our Church is "that our Church exists for those who are not yet members." Through this on-line presence, many individuals who need to "find a church home" can do so by viewing our on-line services each weekend. The Worship Production and Technical Director will provide leadership and oversight for the technical and physical production elements of worship at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church. This position ensures that sound, lighting, video, and stage production are executed with excellence to support meaningful worship experiences.
Position Responsibilities :
Under the Supervision of the Senior Pastor, the Worship Production and Technical Director will: 1. Oversee all technical production for weekend worship and special services. 2. Manage and maintain sound systems, lighting systems, video equipment, and stage technology. 3. Ensure high-quality audio production for both in-person and live stream worship. 4. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during rehearsals and worship services. 5. Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers serving in sound, lighting, camera, and technical roles. 6. Develop and maintain a schedule for technical volunteers. 7. Maintain, repair, and recommend upgrades for all audio/visual equipment. 8. Coordinate with musicians, worship leaders, and staff to support rehearsals and services. 9. Assist with stage setup and design elements that enhance the worship environment. 10. Purchase and manage technical equipment and supplies according to church purchasing policies.
Required Technical Experience :
The Worship Production and Technical Director will have: 1. Strong knowledge of audio systems, mixing consoles, microphones, and signal flow. 2. Experience with stage lighting and worship production environments. 3. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly. 4. Experience training volunteers in technical production roles.

Have a passion for supporting worship through excellent production. 5. Handle multiple tasks at the same time in a professional manner. 6. Prioritize and complete work in a timely fashion. 7. Be open minded to new work ideas and methods. 8. Have the ability to work well with persons of varied sexual preference, racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 9. Maintain confidentiality at all times. 10. Be highly organized and motivated and remain flexible under pressure. Pay attention to detail. 11. Be able to organize and set priorities. 12. Be able to supervise others in a work environment.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is necessary. College degree preferred. Previous experience in Media Production. Must be Computer literate. Ability to prepare routine reports. Ability to sit and view computer and television screens for long periods of time. Must be able to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
Compensation:
Compensation for this position is $1,000 per month. This position carries no benefits. The church may provide secretarial support as needed, if available. This paid position shall not include personal volunteer hours for any ministry. After 90-days, an initial evaluation will be conducted to assess performance and adjust the position description if necessary. The Personnel Committee will provide review of the Worship Production Technical Director each year in November. With a 30-day notice either the Employer or the Employee, may terminate the employment contract without cause or reason. At that time, any property, material, or assets belonging to the employer will be returned, and all materials and files will not be shared with any outside agencies, churches, congregations or individuals.
