This job description and the assigned pay grade will be used when the incumbent is a licensed Pharmacist who holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and advanced (Masters) degree, or a PharmD degree to ensure the Pharmacist incumbent maintains the same market factors experienced by skilled Pharmacy Leaders in other areas of our organization. The CTIS Clinical Portfolio Manager of Pharmacy Informatics is primarily responsible to manage, plan, direct, coordinate, monitor, assist in highly clinical and highly technical evaluation and prioritization of work to facilitate a customer-centric service focused on management of medication orderables and order content in health information technology systems for all Intermountain areas. Additional areas of attention include medication related clinical and operational decision support, medication billing, medication administration, patient safety, and healthcare cost containment initiatives. The manager will help drive and facilitate quality processes, strong workflows, innovative process advancement and safety augmentation of our EHR system, and further development of related applications and tools to meet the needs of our customers. The CTIS Clinical Manager of Pharmacy Informatics, as a Customer Experience Leader, oversees operations for the Care Delivery components within CTIS and actively serves as the voice of the caregivers. This position is accountable to successfully engage caregivers in development, implementation, optimization and adoption of Health Information Technology (HIT). The manager will help maintain a quality electronic health record system by: Coordinating caregiver input and evaluation, collaborating with other operational leaders, being an advocate for system caregivers in the CTIS organization and supporting a positive/ productive relationship between CTIS and caregivers. The CTIS Clinical Portfolio Manager of Pharmacy Informatics will provide effective leadership and operational support for effective cross-functional teams that focus on how health information technology can be adopted to provide safe, high quality care, and help people live the healthiest lives possible. With this common purpose, and in collaboration with other Clinical leaders and operating units such as Clinical Programs, Clinical Services, SelectHealth and will implement, support adoption of, improve, and innovate health information technologies. As a CTIS leader, this position is accountable for driving a culture of safety, accountability and engagement by: Ensuring work focuses on patient safety, creating a positive work environment, celebrating team's successes, developing new leaders and leading by example. This position will work Monday through Friday. Business hours. Please note that a video interview through Microsoft Teams will be required as well as potential onsite interviews and meetings. This role will focus on medication use associated applications across the system and report directly to the Director of Pharmacy Applications. This position will work closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Informatics Director as well as Pharmacy Services Leaders to ensure collaboration and partnership internally and externally with Digital Technology Services (DTS) and non-DTS teams. This position will execute on system and DTS strategies. The position manages budgets and financial assets to achieve financial objectives. The manager is responsible for configuration, implementation, adoption, and use of HIT technologies in the designated areas of responsibility. The position also oversees human resource management, employs people strategy, and training of caregivers in high impact technical skills that enhance, fix, and innovative the electronic care environment. Day to day work is both operational, technical, clinical, and hands-on in nature. This role will lead or co-lead continuous improvement and innovation efforts as well as provide direction for the pharmacy applications department to support pharmacy services, physician medication ordering, other medication use across the system, and the development of highly technical and complex medication clinical decision support. This position will oversee project prioritization, management, and road map creation for those areas previously mentioned in collaboration with DTS and non-DTS leaders. Inspires caregivers to function at a high level, develop new talents, challenge the status quo, and drive performance. The position requires a leader with sound knowledge of healthcare, business management, and a working knowledge of information systems, practices, and technologies. This position will proactively work with other DTS teams and users to implement practices which meet defined policies and standards along with aligning work product deliverables assuring they are aligned with evidence-based best practices and regulatory standards. This position must be highly knowledgeable about the needs of the business and the voice of the customer in both clinical and non-clinical roles to ensure that information systems are maintained in a fully functional, reliable, and sustainable mode. The manager will be responsible for building trusted relationships in all interactions with customers and business units, with operational leaders, to ensure work aligns with the business's needs and strategic initiatives. Job Essentials 1. Responsible for building high performing teams and for directing the work of caregivers for area of accountability, including staffing, goal setting, coaching and mentoring, employee recognition and training, and performance management which includes addressing performance concerns through corrective action while employing firm people strategy principles. 2. Collaborates with key leaders within DTS to plan for the implementation, training, adoption, and process improvement of Epic and other clinical information systems/applications. Designs and implements education programs and training, quality improvement changes, and continuous quality assurance initiatives to advance the organization's medication-use systems and promote optimal patient outcomes. 3. Aligns work to Intermountain Health and the pharmacy and medication management strategic initiatives. 4. Consulting with customers to identify specific clinical and technical requirements. 5. Understanding the highly technical and clinical pharmacy needs as well as with specific focus on developing strong plans to address requests in a timely manner. 6. Develops strategic plans to improve caregiver satisfaction related to HIT and works to actively identify health information technology related issues which require evaluation and will facilitate quality improvement, research, or continuous improvement initiatives as needed to advance practice. 7. Develops culture of safety which drives best practices related to HIT and DTS. 8. Continuously challenges the status quo by evaluating the current processes and practices against industry standards both inside and outside of healthcare/clinical healthcare IT with creative ideas sustaining current evidence-based knowledge of drug and drug therapy literature and best practice in application and delivery of solutions. 9. Assigns work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees with an emphasis on growing those this position leads. 10. Evaluates total body of responsible work within the pharmacy and medication use environment to define opportunities to decrease complexities to help streamline operations and maintenance. 11. Mentors team members to ensure there is an adequate management succession plan in place and sufficient cross-functional skill development. Builds a winning culture using a repeatable, process-based approach which recognizes the interdependence of all key stakeholders. 12. Collaborates with areas of responsibility, high reliability and other cross functional teams with a focus on shared accountability, system and division initiatives. 13. Collaborates with operations leaders in assigned portfolio on the development, implementation and approval of clinical systems specific policies and procedures (e.g. downtime procedures, etc.). 14. Tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in areas of responsibility. Developed KPIs should drive safety, efficiency and best practices. 15. Attracts, develops and maintains top talent to continually raise the bar on the capabilities and deliverables of the organization. 16. Participates in the development of workflows which support efficiency through creative and best practice electronic solutions leading to successful implementation and ongoing meaningful use of Epic and other information technologies. 17. Collaborates with all stakeholders in the development/coordination and implementation of non-Epic projects. 18. Regularly communicates with caregivers through huddles, team meetings, individual one on one meetings, rounding and skip level interviews as appropriate, and manages resource allocation to projects to ensure timely delivery within budget and according to requirements. Minimum Qualifications Pharm D or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Degree must be from an accredited college of pharmacy (degree will be verified). Incumbents must hold current state licensure to practice pharmacy and dispense controlled substances in the State of Utah. Three years of previous leadership, management / project management experience. Demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability of building strategic relationships and ability to communicate effectively to clinical and business stakeholders, make effective decisions, think strategically and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Demonstrated ability to build strong teams to complete complex projects and to lead caregivers and teams outside of span of control. Ability to travel primarily throughout the Intermountain system. Preferred Qualifications Epic Willow certification Experience working with Epic solutions. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), master's degree in clinical informatics, or other relevant advanced degree (e.g. MBA, Master Healthcare Administration). Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Board certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BCPS). Completion of an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Informatics Residency Program. Previous experience with medication policy, medication safety, and formulary management. Previous experience with Epic, CareFusion BD Infusion Pumps, and McKesson (Aesynt), or other pharmacy information systems Previous experience with Infusion Pump Library management software and design Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail and scheduling applications Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working with Health IT-related project acquisition, implementation, and associated project management. Demonstrated use of Key Performance Indicators and Continuous Improvement methods as part of routine work. Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information. Operate computers and other IT equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read computer monitors and documents.
