Job Description

Job Summary Our Travel & Hospitality client is seeking an IT Project Manager to join their team! This role will manage intake, prioritization, and execution of incoming architecture and platform requests while also leading Agile coaching efforts across development pods to improve delivery effectiveness. The ideal candidate is highly technical, deeply familiar with AWS-based architectures, and comfortable working shoulder-to-shoulder with architects, lead developers, and DevOps engineers. Core Responsibilities Own and manage the intake, prioritization, and tracking of architecture and platform requests Partner closely with architects, lead developers, and DevOps teams to plan and execute technical initiatives Drive delivery of architecture-led efforts such as platform modernization, cloud migrations, security enhancements, and scalability improvements Translate complex or ambiguous technical requirements into clear scopes, milestones, dependencies, and delivery plans Identify risks, constraints, and tradeoffs early and proactively drive mitigation Ensure alignment between architecture strategy, engineering capacity, and business priorities Lead Agile coaching efforts for development pods, helping teams consistently apply Agile principles and best practices Coach teams on effective sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, retrospectives, and continuous improvement Partner with engineering leadership to identify bottlenecks and improve flow, predictability, and delivery quality Support teams in scaling Agile practices across cross-functional, platform-oriented work Promote healthy team rituals, ownership, accountability, and outcomes-focused delivery Facilitate technical forums such as backlog refinement, intake review, planning sessions, and cross-team syncs Maintain clear, consistent communication on priorities, progress, risks, and dependencies Act as a trusted partner who can engage deeply with engineers while communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders Continuously improve intake, prioritization, and governance processes for architecture-driven work Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager / Technical Program Manager or similar role Strong technical foundation with hands-on understanding of software development and cloud architecture Solid knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native patterns Experience working directly with architects, senior engineers, and DevOps teams Proven experience coaching or leading teams using Agile methodologies Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with competing priorities Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) Prior software development or engineering background Experience in the airline, travel, or transportation industry Familiarity with distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, and CI/CD pipelines Experience supporting architecture governance, technology standards, or platform teams Background working in agile, hybrid-agile, or scaled delivery environments Key Competencies & Behaviors Proactive ownership and prioritization Collaborative technical partnership Continuous improvement mindset (especially in Agile practices)

Chicago, Illinois Compensation & Benefits Pay Range:
The approximate pay range for this position is between $38.00 and $53.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
