Job Description

Overview We are seeking a full-time Project Manager 2 Engineering - Web/Mobile at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing medium to large engineering projects of average complexity including development and execution of project plans and reporting of project status. Essential Functions Supports project management process improvements and may mentor less experienced Project Managers May manage medium sized projects across business units with moderate guidance Applies project management skills on medium to large engineering projects of average complexity, including understanding, developing and communicating project scope, milestones, and decisions Applies product domain knowledge, full use of accepted processes, procedures, tools and requirements Demonstrates product domain knowledge, full use of accepted processes, procedures, tools and requirements Identifies and supports process improvement activities Drives projects to closure, applies good judgment in identifying issues and risks, creates mitigation plans with assistance from mentor or direct supervisor Demonstrates ability to maintain clear project status, documentation, and reporting for medium to large projects with established tools Demonstrates communication skills, including effective listening, responding appropriately, and managing difficult conversations Builds relationships and gains alignment within the department Identifies/resolves conflicts through understanding of interdependencies of and development of effective relationships between the development team(s) Demonstrates ability to lead effective and efficient team meetings Ensures team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed of project scope, schedule and cost Demonstrates project ownership with moderate involvement from Team Leader/Mentor, working towards single point of contact for project needs and moderate contributions to the success of the project Provides mentoring and guidance to less experienced Project Managers (Project Manager - Engineer 1) Applies Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibits a desire to see Garmin succeed Participates in recruiting activities as assigned Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience Must have experience as a Project Manager working in a technical industry and can speak to the technology Experience with stakeholder management, influencing without authority, risk identification and dependency management. Experience with critical thinking and making data driven decisions Experience managing several project competing for space on the timeline Must have Agile project experience Ability to work in a fast- paced environment in which you have had to frequently adjust priorities, manage ambiguity and pivot quickly as needs change. Ability to navigate situations and challenges and explain those in detail to stakeholders Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, and demonstrate excellent time management, organizational and follow-up skills Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) or similar Ideal experience with process improvement Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
