  • Deployment Optimization, Tech Deploy North America N Reading, MA Apply Description The Technical Infrastructure Program Manager serves as the New Product Introduction (NPI) Tech Lead, driving the physical deployment scalability of robotics solutions across Amazon's fulfillment network from Alpha through Beta Exit.
This role combines deep technical deployment expertise with strategic program management to ensure products are optimized for large-scale physical deployability before entering general availability. As part of Fulfillment Technology & Robotics Deployment organization, you will own the critical transition from deployment process development to scalable deployment, establishing the foundation for successful rollouts. The position requires expertise in deployment strategy development, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to transform emerging technologies into deployment-ready solutions. You will serve as the primary deployment systems engineering expert for assigned products, working closely with Product Engineering teams and Field Execution teams implement Design for Deployment improvements and establish comprehensive deployment frameworks. Key job responsibilities As the Deployment Engineering Tech Lead, you will drive deployment excellence through comprehensive design analysis and optimization. You will examine technical drawings to identify deployment challenges, conduct deployment tradeoff analysis, and manage the identification, prioritization, and implementation of design and process changes that enhance robotic deployment efficiency. Your role encompasses developing deployment strategies aligned with organizational tenets while creating and tracking priority zero metrics that establish measurable benchmarks for installation excellence. You will lead specialized work streams including process optimization and risk management to achieve deployment acceleration. This includes conducting deployability assessments with time studies for cycle time optimization and crew size determination. You will own the generation and implementation tracking of Design for Deployment requirements, collaborating with hardware development teams to quantify design change impacts through field validation. Cross-functional partnership is essential as you represent Tech Deploy in change management forums, providing expert guidance and quantitative impact analysis. You will partner with teams for work instruction development, serve as the primary contact for deployment scalability questions, and highlight and report on deployment risks to leadership. Your responsibilities include defining and creating deployment deliverables, maintaining comprehensive documentation throughout Alpha and Beta phases, and validating process stability for scaling. You will integrate technology-specific processes into standardized frameworks and playbooks while providing input for specialty tooling requirements and infrastructure modifications needed for successful product deployments. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software) Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Business or a STEM related field, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related fields Experience using lean process improvement, six sigma methodologies, or related performance metrics/process improvements to increase efficiency within processes, forecasting, planning, optimization, or logistics Experience in robotics design, automation systems development, control systems design, or related product development Experience in successful technology product work from ideation through launch Experience coordinating complex products with stringent technical requirements, development cycles and schedules Experience in design review process to incorporate electrical, mechanical, automation controls solutions to drive equipment reliability and standards Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
