Job Description
Piper Companies is hiring a Technical Program Manager for a large technology company located in Durham, NC. The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for customer communication, project planning, project budget, and project execution. Manage and provide Technical Leadership for new product development projects with high complexity. The Technical Program Manager role is an onsite position with travel located in Durham, NC. Technical Program Manager:
Managed complex new product development projects from initiation through launch, overseeing project planning, scope, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and execution to ensure products met customer requirements, technical specifications, and financial objectives. Provided technical leadership to cross-functional and multi-site project teams, coordinating engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain resources to successfully develop and implement new products and technologies. Served as the primary customer interface, communicating project status, schedules, requirements, risks, and key milestones while ensuring alignment with customer expectations and market needs. Led project governance activities including team meetings, action item tracking, supplier coordination, capacity planning, and resource management to maintain project schedules and support on-time product delivery. Defined product specifications, managed project scope, reviewed product costing and capital requests, and controlled scope changes to ensure profitability, cost targets, manufacturability, and overall business objectives were achieved. Identified and mitigated project risks through proactive planning, alternative solution development, and risk reduction methodologies while ensuring manufacturing systems, ordering processes, and production capabilities were established to support successful product commercialization. Qualifications of the Technical Program Manager include: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with 4+ years of program/project management experience, preferably within the connector, manufacturing, mechanical, or hardware product development industry. Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, procedures, schedules, and product documentation, with experience preparing reports, business correspondence, and process documentation. Proven experience managing customer communications, stakeholder expectations, and cross-functional project teams while effectively presenting technical and business information to customers and all levels of management. Demonstrated ability to operate independently in high-pressure, fast-paced manufacturing environments, driving decisions, resolving conflicts, balancing customer and internal priorities, and providing proactive project status updates to leadership. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations involving multiple variables, identify risks, interpret written and verbal instructions, and implement effective corrective actions. Proficient in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), with experience collaborating with global teams, managing suppliers, coordinating resources across multiple regions, and leading projects through successful execution and commercialization. Compensation for the Technical Program Manager include: $120,000-$145,000Full Comprehensive Benefits:
