Summary Responsible for setting strategic global direction, release management, and maintenance for web-hosted systems that support business strategy. Work closely with architecture, application, publishing, and other global IT teams to ensure proper service levels and partner in deciding solutions and architectures. Manage, control, and administer the global operation of web hosting systems teams for both internal and external systems. Scope of responsibility includes web hosting servers, application servers, source code management, project planning and time-tracking support systems, and collaboration systems. Set direction and oversee the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of alternative approaches to support client requirements and customer service offerings. Participate in the enterprise application global design life cycle from inception through post-release and maintenance. Make recommendations on global standards and policies, capacity management and planning, budget preparation assistance, and technology thought leadership. Review and evaluate staff work, prepare performance reports, and manage multiple projects, professional and technical staff, and related operational activities. Serve as Technology Director as requested. Duties and Responsibilities Manage regional operational and administrative activities for external-facing application support. Manage global operational and administrative activities for infrastructure systems, including source code management, project planning/time-tracking tools, collaboration systems, and IT request ticketing systems. Serve as a technical resource and focal point for global application and architecture teams, providing problem resolution for supported infrastructure. Review performance and capacity management reports, working closely with other IT functional areas to resolve issues, develop solutions for new capacity requirements, and recommend web systems performance tuning. Participate as a member of the IT change management committee. Provide general supervision to direct and indirect reports, including monitoring/evaluating performance, conducting performance discussions, and making compensation recommendations. Ensure that enterprise and client information assets are protected at all times. Conduct periodic planning sessions with application teams, architecture teams, and business unit leaders to guide technical direction within established standards. Maintain and enhance technical expertise and industry knowledge across database technologies, publishing tools, operating systems, storage networks, enterprise backup, and process improvement techniques. Identify and alert leadership to risks or issues that impact project progress. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience; postgraduate degree or industry-recognized certifications preferred. Eight (8) or more years of extensive experience in web systems or IT infrastructure, including leading and managing technical teams. Proven experience with web and application server platforms (e.g., Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat, Apache). Experience with application development tools preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across clients, technical staff, and vendors. Excellent problem-solving, consultative, planning, and implementation skills. Ability to travel to remote office locations or for business needs as required. Ability to provide off-hours operational support as needed.
