Job Description The Manager, Administrative Applications, oversees a group of developers responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of enterprise applications for the following University business areas: Human Resources, Finance and Research Administration. As the technology landscape rapidly evolves, the ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader who will thoughtfully position the University for the future. This includes monitoring and evaluating emerging technologies through a lens that balances innovation with institutional stability, security, and fiscal responsibility. This position is part of multiple technical teams chartered to deliver complex applications in support of the University's business needs. The ideal candidate is an adaptable, relationship-driven leader who will champion a strong governance framework, collaborating closely with ITS and University leadership to evaluate, prioritize, and execute a project portfolio that aligns with institutional values, priorities, strict deadlines and long term goals.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Provide leadership to team members on maintenance of systems and management of projects.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to a team for effective transition into modern technology architectures and tools, and to enable long term support of the University.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with leadership stakeholders in Human Resources, Finance, and Research Administration to ensure technical solutions meet business needs, and system roadmaps meet long-term goals.
  • Identify potential opportunities from a technical, operational and strategic perspective, and create the path forward to optimize on these opportunities.
  • Determines project plans, priorities, budget items and resource requirements.
  • Develop cost benefit analysis as part of project, system or strategic evaluations.
  • Adjust resources and plans to meet shifting priorities or challenges.
  • Maintain a balance of alignment with ITS architectural strategies and end user requirements.
  • Collaborate with appropriate ITS and University departments on vendor contracts, security reviews, software licensing, audits and compliance.
  • Collaborate with various ITS departments to ensure all applications meet technical and security standards.
  • Collaborate with various ITS departments to deliver efficient and high-quality integrations (connecting data, applications and third parties) that support business processes and customer needs.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range:
$137,850 to $172,300; salary commensurate with relevant experience. This is an onsite position (remote flexibility at the discretion of management). Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Applications and tools support with at least three years of managing a technical group.
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff, including their professional development.
  • Advanced degree or additional training in relevant technologies preferred.
  • Strong understanding of PeopleSoft's
HRMS/FSCM
functional and technical capabilities preferred.
  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • Understanding of Windows and Linux based infrastructure.
  • Experience in support of vendor systems and custom applications.
  • Experience working in a software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical cross-functional initiatives and manage change.
  • Analytical skills for requirements development and technical specifications.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and workflow in order to determine appropriate technical solutions.
  • Proven competencies to work in a team environment that aspires to customer service excellence.
  • Knowledge of IT service management best practices, including change management and incident response in production environments.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills.
  • Client or customer-oriented experience.
  • Ability to navigate organizational dynamics of a complex, relationship-driven institution.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • May be required to work additional hours to meet project/unit deadlines and timeframes.
  • Must be available to address critical system issues during off hours.
