Full Job Description Director Application Development Location:

Newport News, VA (Hybrid) About the role: A Leading Credit Union is investing heavily in technology, and we need a leader to shape how we build it. You'll own application development for the whole organization. That means setting the direction, growing a team of 7 developers, and shipping the systems our members and associates rely on every day. This isn't a maintenance role. We're modernizing core platforms, integrating new systems, and raising the bar on how we build software. You'll have real influence over all of it. What you'll do Set the technical direction for application development and tie it directly to business priorities Lead, mentor, and grow the team of developers and senior technical leads Own delivery end to end, from architecture and design through testing, UAT, and release Define the standards: coding practices, TDD, version control, and documentation Build out modern DevSecOps practices, including automated CI/CD and security built in from the start Lead integration across business-critical systems, including APIs, data migration, and system-to-system communication Partner with business, product, and IT leaders to turn needs into solutions that work Keep evaluating new tools and technologies, and advise leadership on where to invest What you bring 8+ years building software, with 3+ years leading development teams Hands-on background in C#/.NET, JavaScript, and SQL; Python or Java is a plus A track record of delivering projects on schedule while managing a team Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps tooling such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, or Azure DevOps Experience building or adapting APIs for custom applications A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience Nice to have Experience in financial services or at a credit union Exposure to core banking or digital banking platforms Why this Credit Union A member-owned organization that serves its community rather than shareholders The chance to build a team and shape a technology function during a period of real investment Application Question(s): How many years of experience do you have building software with C#/.NET?
