We're looking for a versatile, forward-thinking designer to join CHANEL's Open Innovation team in NYC. This is a 360-degree design role for someone who thrives at the intersection of craft and experimentation. You will work across print and digital while actively experimenting with emerging technologies. Working on internal and external projects and platforms simultaneously, you'll support our team with everything from brand identity evolution, end-to-end marketing needs, UI design to motion content creation. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution: you'll help shape creative direction while building the assets that bring it to life.
WHAT IMPACT YOU CAN CREATE AT CHANEL
Design Across Touchpoints Create visual assets for integrated marketing campaigns spanning digital and physical channels Produce marketing collateral for both print and digital applications Design engaging social media content and build email/SMS campaigns Develop creative assets for website content updates and merchandising initiatives Create or update assets for digital signage and other experimental formats Produce video content for internal communications, culture initiatives, and external-facing ventures Build and Evolve Visual Systems Work within established brand identities while finding opportunities to evolve them thoughtfully Ensure holistic, consistent look and feel across all touchpoints Translate brand vision into cohesive design systems, repeatable components, and clear guidelines Design UI flows and screens in Figma; prototype with motion where it adds clarity or impact Optimize and Execute Modify and optimize imagery to platform-specific specs (including Shopify product pages) Turn concepts into production-ready files with excellent typography, composition, and hierarchy Ensure all deliverables meet technical specifications and brand standards Experiment and Explore Actively use AI tools in your creative process, from ideation and research to production and optimization Bring a test-and-learn mentality: propose new ways of approaching creative work, research, and workflows Collaborate with partners and explore independently new technologies and methodologies, including AI and other emerging creative technologies Bring curiosity about how new tools can enhance visual and conceptual storytelling Help the team discover and evaluate emerging tools that could transform how we work
YOU ARE ENERGIZED BY
Creative and strategic thinking with ability to zoom out for big-picture direction and zoom in for pixel-perfect execution Being organized, detail-obsessed, and able to juggle multiple projects without sacrificing quality Collaborative spirit, you work well across teams and welcome feedback Hands-on experience with AI creative tools, whether for image generation, editing workflows, research, or conceptual exploration Emerging tools and open to experimentation (AI fluency is a big plus) Exploring how new technologies can expand what's possible in visual storytelling
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM
5+ years of experience across brand identity, digital design, design systems, UI, and campaign development, ideally within fast-paced, test-and-learn, or innovation-led environments. Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience welcomed Portfolio demonstrating strong range across brand identity, digital design, design systems, UI, and campaign work Excellent command of typography, layout, composition, and visual hierarchy Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud Comfort working end-to-end: from initial concept through final production files Experience creating both static and dynamic content; motion graphics or animation skills a plus (After Effects or similar) Video editing and content creation experience valued, especially for internal storytelling and culture communications
POSITION LOGISTICS
Experience in retail innovation or luxury retail environments is a plus, particularly familiarity with how physical and digital retail intersect and how innovation initiatives require creative design to translate to physical, client-facing spaces Hybrid role based in NYC office and requires regular in-person presence
COMPENSATION
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $87,500 through $121,300 Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
