Technical Motion Designer (Rive / Front-End Focus)

Contract Role Overview We are seeking an individual who operates at the intersection of motion design and front-end engineering. This role is for a front-end engineer with a deep understanding of motion who can build, structure, and ship interactive animations using Rive in products. You will work on expressive, real-time motion systems, designing how motion behaves, responds, and scales in code. Key Responsibilities Build and implement interactive animations using Rive across product surfaces. Translate motion concepts into production-ready assets. Own animation logic, state machines, and databinds inside Rive. Optimize for performance, scalability, and reusability. Help define best practices for how motion is built and implemented with Rive. Build tools that can be used by designers to modify Rive files at runtime.
Required Qualifications Technical Skills:
Strong front-end engineering skills, with a preference for JavaScript/TypeScript. Experience with Rive, including state machines, advanced databinds, logic, and complex interactive animation systems. Solid understanding of animation principles such as timing, easing, and choreography. Experience integrating animation into real products. Ability to debug, iterate, and refine motion directly in code.
Experience:
Must be comfortable working between design and engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with React, React Native, or similar frameworks. Familiarity with animation tools like After Effects. Experience building design systems or reusable motion systems. Interest in real-time, interactive, or generative animation.
