Job DescriptionAs an Automation, Instrumentation and Controls (AIC) Engineer at CRB, you are essential to the creation of purposeful, high-performance processes and facilities that have a positive, lasting impression on people, our clients and the community. Your experience allows you to execute and lead small projects through all phases of design, documentation and administration, as well as actively support large projects within a multi-discipline team setting. You will leverage your creativity with your knowledge of mechanical system controls, process automation controls and regulatory standards to solve problems that balance technical and design excellence.

The AIC Engineer III is responsible for overseeing the discipline and managing the discipline budget on small to medium projects of limited complexity. The Engineer III coordinates with internal and external engineers as well as client, construction manager, subcontractor and vendor interfaces. The Engineer possesses the demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others. The Engineer may work independently or at the direction of the Lead Engineer or Project Manager. This role will have the ability to successfully execute and lead (on moderate complexity projects) all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation and construction administration, or hold primary responsibility for one or more automation systems on a large project. The Engineer will have the ability to develop designs of automation control systems of intermediate complexity, consisting of multiple controllers, HMIs, Workstations and Servers.

Core ActivitiesInterfaces with clients and external partners.

Plans and directs work and manages a project budget from a discipline design perspective on small projects of limited complexity.

Supports proposal development under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer.

Identifies basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.

Develops basic internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.

Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity and with little oversight.

Leads squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity and drives overall project quality.

Provides mentorship to discipline Engineer I and/or Designer I and II.Leads intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from Lead or Senior Engineer.

QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited programMinimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within a consulting or design firm environmentPreferred QualificationsProficiency with AutoCAD and RevitProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteFundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or active registrationWorking knowledge of cGMP manufacturing environmentsExperience performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations and supporting control system design and implementationExperience developing control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, and field wiring diagramsExperience creating and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable industry standardsFamiliarity with mechanical and building codesBasic experience in the design and application of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams, vendors, and construction partnersAbility to perform discipline-specific calculations with limited supervisionBasic troubleshooting skills related to instrumentation, controls, and associated systemsAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
