Amazon Web Services is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, build, and optimize Nitro SSD services powering high-performance storage on AWS. You will develop scalable, low-latency services in Java, C++, or Python, working closely with storage, compute, and networking teams to deliver resilient, secure, and cost-effective solutions. In this customer-obsessed, data-driven environment, you'll own features end-to-end, improve system reliability and performance, automate operations, and contribute to the evolution of AWS Nitro, while continuously learning cutting-edge cloud technologies. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain Nitro SSD services for high-performance cloud storage Develop scalable, low-latency, and secure back-end components in Java, C++, or Python Collaborate with cross-functional teams across storage, compute, and networking Improve reliability, availability, and durability of Nitro SSD systems Analyze performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive optimizations Automate deployments, operations, and monitoring using CI/CD and observability tools Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and operational readiness reviews Own services end-to-end, including on-call support and incident resolution Apply data-driven decision-making to improve customer experience and service quality Contribute to long-term architecture and roadmap for Nitro SSD and related AWS storage services Required Skills Java C++Python Distributed systems design Cloud computing (AWS) Linux systems programming Performance optimization and profiling RESTful and internal service APIs CI/CD pipelines Monitoring and observability (Cloud Watch/metrics/logging)
