Yes No (If yes, describe) Occasional travel for training Position Summary The IT & Systems Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the stable, secure, and efficient operation of the District's computer networks, systems, and related technologies. This professional position plans, develops, installs, configures, maintains, supports, and optimizes network hardware, software, servers, and communication links. The position also provides technical support, troubleshooting, and end-user training while ensuring data security, regulatory compliance, and continuity of operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Administration & Government Affairs and the Executive Director; however, the employee is expected to work independently and exercise initiative, discretion, and sound judgment in carrying out assigned duties. Essential Functions & Responsibilities The following duties are representative of the essential functions of this position. Employees may be assigned additional duties as operational needs require. Core Responsibilities Ensures reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all District network and computer systems. Develops, implements, and enforces network security policies and procedures. Provides advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution of hardware, software, and network issues. Manages system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Supports District staff through training, documentation, and technical guidance.
Operational / Technical
Duties Installs, configures, maintains, and optimizes network hardware, software, servers, and communication systems. Maintains LAN, WAN, wireless networks, VPNs, Firewalls, and internet connectivity. Manages user accounts, permissions, and security groups using Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, SSO [AR1] and related platforms. Monitors network performance, capacity, security metrics, and system health. Implements security updates, patches, antivirus, and threat detection tools. Designs, maintains, and tests data backup and disaster recovery systems. Maintains inventory of all computer, network, and peripheral equipment. Installs, maintains, and supports Windows operating systems, on-premises servers, and cloud-based systems. Maintains Apple devices using Apple Business Manager (ABM) and JAMF. Tracks software licensing compliance and vendor agreements. Documents system configurations, procedures, incidents, and changes. Researches emerging technologies and recommends system improvements. Serves as liaison with software vendors, internet service providers, and equipment suppliers. Supports audio & visual equipment and virtual meetings. Coordinates procurement of IT equipment, software, and services. Provides technical support for District applications and operational software systems. Notifies leadership of significant system issues, security incidents, or outages.
Leadership / Coordination
Collaborates with District leadership and departments to support operational goals through technology solutions. Coordinates security awareness training for District staff. Trains new employees and provides ongoing technical education to personnel as systems evolve. Works with vendors and consultants to plan, implement, and maintain technology solutions. Advises leadership on system requirements, upgrades, and cybersecurity risks. Marginal Functions The following duties are performed on an occasional basis and are not considered essential functions of the position. Assists with special projects and District initiatives involving technology systems. Represents the District professionally in meetings with vendors, consultants, and partner organizations. Performs related duties as required. Required Qualifications Minimum qualifications necessary to perform the job: Bachelor's degree in computer technology, information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and relevant hands-on experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience specializing in computer and network systems coordination. Experience with enterprise systems including Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Intune, Exchange Online, and SharePoint. Experience working with a broad range of vendor platforms and security tools. Experience applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Ability to create documentation, narrative reports, and training materials. Ability to communicate effectively and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to work dependably, manage assigned tasks responsibly, and meet established performance and safety standards. Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or emergency response situations, as operational needs require. Ability and willingness to work with insecticides and related materials in accordance with applicable safety regulations and training. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record. Possession of a current Public Health Pest Control License issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), or be able to acquire the license within 1 year of employment. Authorization to work legally in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting public-sector or special taxing district environments. Advanced cybersecurity experience and incident response training.
Microsoft Certified:
Azure Fundamentals and Azure Administrator Associate. CompTIA certifications including A+, Network+, Security+, CIOS, and CSIS. Experience serving as Records Retention Agent or Public Records Request Custodian. Experience with GIS-integrated systems and operational databases. Strong background in disaster recovery and business continuity planning. The District may provide training and support for required licensure and certifications. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below represent the core competencies required to successfully perform the duties of this position.

Network architecture, cybersecurity principles, and system administration best practices. Windows server environments, cloud computing platforms, and virtualization. Backup, disaster recovery, and data retention requirements. Software licensing, vendor management, and compliance standards. Public records retention laws and information security standards.

Network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise hardware and software. Technical documentation and system reporting. Vendor coordination and technology procurement support. Training and technical communication with non-technical users.

Exercise sound judgment in sensitive or high-risk situations. Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, leadership, and external partners. Physical & Environmental Conditions The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position also requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and viewing computer monitors. Work is primarily performed indoors in an office setting that is generally climate controlled, though conditions may vary at times. Occasional local travel may be required to conduct District business. The typical noise level is low. Technology & Data Responsibilities Utilizes computers, mobile devices, and/or specialized software to perform job duties. Responsible for accurate data entry and adherence to data security and privacy protocols. May use AI-assisted or automated tools in accordance with organizational policy. Compensation & Benefits Compensation for this position is established in accordance with the District's adopted pay structure and personnel policies. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Base pay adjustments may occur through Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA), which are intended to maintain wage competitiveness relative to economic conditions, and through merit-based increases, which are awarded based on individual performance, skill development, and organizational needs. All compensation adjustments are subject to District policy, budget approval, and performance standards.
