(IPS)—a successful defense contractor located in Panama City Beach, Florida—has provided exceptional support to our Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) customers for 25 years. We are looking for an energetic and proactive Junior or Mid-Level Software/Network Specialist to provide technical support in the requirements definition, design, development, integration, and testing of multiple U.S. Navy systems' baselines to include supporting multiple software and hardware versions. Software engineering tasks include participating in the software development lifecycle for design and development of new programs as part of the Design Agent, as well as support for operational systems as part of the Software Support Activity (SSA) and will encompass designing, developing, programming and testing of software programs in accordance with specific Software Development Plans. The ideal candidate will have experience with programming and networking, system setup, loading software, documenting software design, tracking trouble tickets, and supporting software configuration management. Network engineering tasks will include supporting the integrity of network infrastructures, monitoring network performance, and collaborating with the cybersecurity team to protect data and implement security measures. This Software/Network Specialist will also provide support for software installation, integration with other applications, troubleshooting issues, and establishing network configuration. This project is exciting, challenging, and interesting that requires the ability to easily adapt to change.
Highlights of Responsibilities:
Programming, designing, developing, and testing of software modules. Developing, establishing, and troubleshooting network architectures. Contribute to weekly and monthly status reports.Required Education, Experience, and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, information technology, or related technical field. Experience with developer toolsets such as: Maven, Git, Jira, Bitbucket and Confluence or experience with Java in Windows environment (socket operations, Java Swing, mapping software). Current CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft security certificate, or in the process of obtaining certification. Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security clearance.Desired Qualifications:
Three or more years of recent, relevant experience. Experience with trouble shooting, maintaining, and documenting software server or network issues. Experience with programming in Java, C++, and other software languages Capable of writing and executing procedures Experience with MS Windows 7 and 10 Experience with closed networked systems Experience with Red Hat Linux Hands-on experience in a software lab environment Experience with U.S. Navy and government computer-based systems Experience using database tools and frameworks such as ProstgreSQL and Hibernate. Familiarity with cyber security Possesses strong listening skills to interface with end users Adapts easily to change and possesses great interpersonal skillsTravel:
Travel may be expected up to 15% of the year.Tools and Technology:
Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), configuration management tools, MATLAB, and government-owned custom tools. Microsoft suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.Working Conditions/Environment:
Most work will be conducted at NSWC PCD and the remainder at IPS or other Naval facilities, including aboard U.S. Navy ships while pier side and underway IPS is a drug-free employer Proof of citizenship will be required upon employment at IPS.Pay:
