Peachtree City, GA Position Summary:
The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the planning, implementation, operation, maintenance, and security of enterprise network infrastructure supporting DoDEA schools, administrative offices, and educational technology systems. The position ensures reliable, secure, and high-performance network services across geographically dispersed locations while supporting Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity and information assurance requirements. DoDEA operates schools worldwide serving military-connected students and employs a large global workforce. Key Responsibilities Network Operations & Administration- Administer enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and cloud-connected network environments.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and related network devices.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of network outages and performance issues.
- Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching services. Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, RMF requirements, and security directives.
- Implement and maintain network security controls, firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, and access controls.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and support cybersecurity audits and inspections.
- Respond to security incidents and coordinate remediation activities. Infrastructure Planning
- Plan and implement network upgrades, refresh cycles, and technology modernization initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements.
- Support integration of cloud services and hybrid network architectures.
- Develop network architecture diagrams and technical documentation. Customer Support
- Provide Tier III support for complex network issues.
- Coordinate with help desk personnel, systems administrators, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and government stakeholders.
- Support school operations and enterprise communication services. Leadership & Project Management
- Lead network implementation projects and migration activities.
- Mentor junior network administrators and technicians.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
- Coordinate maintenance windows and change management activities. Required Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience
- 7-10+ years of progressively responsible network administration experience.
- Experience managing enterprise Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or similar network environments.
- Experience supporting large, geographically distributed organizations. Certifications One or more of the following preferred:
- Cisco
CCNA / CCNP
- CompTIA Security+
- CISSP
- Cisco CyberOps
- Aruba or Juniper certifications
- ITIL Foundation Technical Skills
TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP
- Cisco
IOS/NX-OS
- Wireless networking technologies
- Firewalls and VPN technologies
- Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.)
- Microsoft Windows Server environments
- Azure and cloud networking concepts
- PowerShell, Python, or network automation tools
- VoIP and unified communications systems Security Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (or higher, depending on assignment).
- Must meet DoD 8140/8570 cybersecurity workforce requirements. Desired Competencies
