This role focuses on maintaining and optimizing network performance across optical and IP transport systems to ensure maximum uptime and mission effectiveness.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least 3 years in networking (IP or optical transport)
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility
- Security+ CE certification (required)
- Strong experience with:
- Cisco and Juniper technologies
MPLS, IP
networking, and routing protocols- Optical transport networks (SONET/SDH, MSPP)
- Incident response and network operations
- Network management tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
- Ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA)
- Knowledge of telecom environments including ISP/OSP and Telco NOC operations
- Experience with circuit management, nodes, and network infrastructure Key responsibilities include:
- Execute network operations including configuration and analysis of customer circuits across optical and electro-optical multiplexers, routers, and switches
- Perform real-time circuit redesign (alternate routing) to restore connectivity during outages or maintenance activities
- Monitor network alarms using platform-specific management tools and proactively address issues
- Certifications such as CCNA or Juniper
- Collaborate with internal teams, external customers, and government agencies to ensure network availability and minimize operational impact
- Perform change management tasks including hardware replacement, software configuration, and ASI management
- Document incidents using ticketing and incident management systems, including outage analysis, escalation, and resolution tracking
