Full Job Description Senior Network Engineer Location:
Carol Stream, IL We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Network Engineer to support and drive our continued growth. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing all aspects of our network infrastructure within a 24/7 production environment. The Senior Network Engineer ensures high availability, performance, and resiliency across LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, and cloud networks that support our critical print operations and digital delivery systems. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and manage enterprise network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and SD-WAN. Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance; proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and latency issues. Strengthen network security by implementing firewalls, IDS/IPS, ACLs, segmentation, and encryption technologies. Maintain and administer network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues affecting production SLAs and operational uptime. Lead network-related projects such as upgrades, migrations, expansions, integrations, and lifecycle refreshes. Create and maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, standards, and troubleshooting procedures. Required Knowledge & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration roles within enterprise or production environments. Strong understanding of modern networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP/IP, VLANs, MPLS, etc. Hands-on experience with enterprise networking hardware, preferably HPE Switching and Mellanox , with familiarity in Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWall, or equivalent. Deep understanding of cloud-native networking concepts and technologies across AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure. Solid understanding of IT security best practices and compliance standards relevant to regulated industries such as print/mail. Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and troubleshooting skills. Preferred Skills Certifications such as CCNP or equivalent. Experience supporting highly available network infrastructure in production environments. Experience with large-scale HPE and Mellanox switching environments (highly preferred). Security & Compliance Implement and maintain firewall rules, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation in coordination with security teams. Ensure network infrastructure aligns with compliance frameworks such as
NIST, ISO 27001, SOC
2, and PCI . Support and contribute to zero-trust networking initiatives and secure architecture design.
Salary Range:
$125,000 - $135,000
