Job Description

Individuals within the IT Network Engineer role are responsible for the operations of secure and highly available networking platforms. They install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve WaterOne's operating environment. They maintain the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring the operating environments; responding to incidents and problems; and planning for growth. Individuals in this job family are also responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the data center (on premise and cloud) and WAN networks. Pay range for this position is $88,400/yr to $120,800/yr. Compensation for the selected candidate will depend on candidate qualifications and experience as related to the position requirements. Creates technology designs and solutions in response to business needs that enable WaterOne to maximize our IT investments and ensure a cost-effective and secure approach is followed. Designs, maintains and supports networks for business applications and SCADA environments. Creates and maintains accurate network diagrams for documentation, design and planning. In an individual capacity, regularly diagnoses and resolves moderately complex security, hardware, software and connectivity problems and occasionally resolves those of a higher complexity (complexity defined by size, technology used, and system feeds and interfaces). In both an individual and team capacity, supports multiple systems or applications of moderate complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility. This role will occasionally be tasked with working with systems of higher complexity in a team capacity. Participates in short and long-term project efforts with stakeholders and IT groups. Works in both an individual and team capacity to implement, maintain, administer, support, and monitor both on premise and cloud-based network solutions and security. Works in both an individual and team capacity to implement, maintain, administer, support, and monitor virtualization solutions. Works as part of a team in the planning and administration of network redundancy, backup, security, VOIP, and disaster recovery; helps establish and meet Divisional availability goals. Maintains network security standards, identifies security issues, and occasionally consults on and implements new security solutions. Participates in the planning for network recovery for equipment or system failure or disaster situations. Participates in capacity planning and performance monitoring and tuning in the LAN/WAN/Telephony environment. Maintains monitoring of compliance with WaterOne's standards and procedures for network usage. Monitors and tests system performance; prepares and delivers system performance statistics and reports. Participates in project teams to evaluate and recommend new network, communications, computing, security and related solutions for WaterOne. Works in a team environment to monitor, support and maintain integration of voice, data, security and telecommunication systems for WaterOne. Performs network and security audits, network health monitoring, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. Coordinates and performs maintenance and/or updates to network systems. Manages and supports networking equipment, software, appliances operating systems and associated products from various 3rd party vendors. Participates in cyber security planning and incident response. Availability for 24-hour on-call duty, with an expectation of prompt response to after-hours incidents, including both scheduled and unscheduled evening and weekend work. Other Duties Provides technical and backup support for other IT staff members. Perform other job duties as assigned. Customer Service Commitment WaterOne employees shall continuously strive to meet or exceed the expectations of both their internal and external customers. Questions and concerns shall be acknowledged on the same day whenever possible, but no later than the next business day. Issues shall be resolved as promptly as possible, with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction. Qualifications Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering Technology, Network Communications Management or related.

Eight years of hands-on experience in the technical operation of a multi-site Enterprise LAN/WAN environment including security administration and leveraging network management/monitoring tools. Eight years of hands-on experience in the technical operation and design of enterprise class firewall products.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in meeting the requirements above. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of PC applications management systems and communications to include VPN applications. Strong working knowledge of current LAN/WAN technologies and possess strong Cisco switch, router and firewall configuration and administration skills. Experience with Next Generation Enterprise Firewalls. Experience exercising strong technical trouble shooting skills in a Cisco network and telephony environment. Must have good customer service and customer interaction skills. Must be well organized, creative, and detail oriented. Must be assertive, flexible, demonstrate initiative and sound judgment. Must interface well with technical IT departmental and non-technical user department personnel. Possess good communication skills and be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent decision-making skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality for all user materials. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background verification in accordance with WaterOne standards. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of cybersecurity standards such as NIST, ISA, and NERC.Hands-on experience with enterprise and cloud networking.

Cisco or Palo training in the last 3 years or a current certificate.

Web Application Firewall (WAF) knowledge.

Zero trust and micro segmentation experience. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. An employee in this position will constantly lift 5 lbs, frequently lift 10lbs, occasionally lift 20lbs, and rarely lift 40lbs. This person will rarely work in outdoor weather conditions and occasionally work inside and outside WaterOne facilities and structures. Outside working conditions are dependent on the weather, which involves extreme heat (above 90 degrees) in the summer and cold in the winter (below freezing). Occasionally, this person will perform work in non-heated and non air-conditioned structures. This person will rarely perform field assignments in poor weather and driving conditions, and deal with other hazards of field work, will rarely work at varying heights up to 15 feet above the floor, and tolerate noise levels that are generally minimal but may be excessive for brief periods of time (hearing protection is provided). Employees in this position must be able to remain in a stationary, standing, and/or sitting position for up to several hours a day, move from one location to another, and constantly operate office productivity machinery such as a copy machine, telephone, and computer. Employees must be able to position themselves to stoop, kneel, or crouch, move through elevators, stairways, ramps and rough terrain, as well as move from one location to another. Employees must also be able to position themselves to install, maintain, or service computer hardware and software and other related equipment. Employees must also be able to wear personal protective equipment and navigate construction sites, ascend and descend ladders and stand/work on elevated surfaces. Employees must also possess specific vision abilities required for this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish colors, and ability to adjust focus. Employees will be expected to work in a professional office environment that includes tasks performed at a desk, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and filing systems. This job duties for this position sometimes takes place in the field and/or plant environment where exposure to various environmental factors such as chemicals, noise from machinery, and fluctuating temperatures is likely and personal protective equipment may be required. The noise level when working in the field and/or plant environment is usually moderate to maximal.
