Sr Network Engineer General Informatics - 1.0 New Orleans, LA Job Details Full-time 19 hours ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off Parental leave Qualifications Computer science 5 years Analysis skills IAT Senior level Communication skills Full Job Description The Senior Network Engineer serves as the subject matter expert for network and security technologies, focusing on cloud infrastructure, security implementation, and network automation. This role combines deep technical expertise with business acumen to deliver secure, scalable network solutions that align with business objectives. This position will work in our Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA, Birmingham, AL, or Auburn, AL office.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design & Implementation:
Design and implement network solutions in Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments Configure and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, and firewalls Deploy and manage security solutions including IDS/IPS systems Implement network automation and scripting solutions Optimize network performance and reliability
Security Management:
Lead security incident response and investigation Manage intrusion detection and prevention systems Implement and maintain network security controls Perform security analysis and monitoring Ensure compliance with security standards
Technical Leadership:
Ability to interface with technical and non-technical customers Act as escalation point for complex network issues Mentor and train team members on network technologies Maintain technical documentation and procedures Evaluate and recommend new technologies Coordinate with third-party vendors
Infrastructure Management:
Monitor network performance and availability Perform network updates and maintenance Manage network capacity and growth Implement disaster recovery solutions Optimize network costs and efficiency
Required Qualifications:
6+ years experience with enterprise network technologies 5+ years hands-on solution deployment experience Strong knowledge of Azure cloud technologies Experience with security tools and analysis Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Technical Skills:
Network protocols (BGP, IGRP, DNS, VRRP, etc.) Security tools (i.e. Wireshark, Snort, nmap) SIEM platforms (i.e. ArcSight, QRadar, Splunk) Cloud networking technologies Network automation and scripting VPN and VLAN configuration Cisco networking equipment FortiNet network equipment
Preferred Certifications:
CCNA or equivalent
CCNP, CCIE
Security+ or
CISSP IAT
Level I/II certification Azure networking certifications
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills Project management capabilities Business process understanding Team collaboration Documentation expertise
Additional Responsibilities:
Complete accurate timesheets Participate in training and development Support special projects as needed Consistently demonstrate "Can Do, Will Do" attitude Other duties as assigned
Success Metrics:
Timesheets are accurate and submitted on time Network uptime, availability, optimization and automation Security incident response time Project completion rates Documentation quality Team knowledge transfer Customer satisfaction scores Cost optimization achievements Travel Occasional overnight travel, less than once per month. Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods of time may be spent in computer room and communications equipment spaces for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of heavy networking equipment. Must be able to perform extensive standing, driving, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to manipulate up to 100 lbs. with assistance, to transport and stock assigned supplies and materials; to pick-up from vendors and deliver stock and materials to customers upon request, to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb to reach materials (must be able to climb a step ladder at approximately ten feet in height and to work from a lift up to twenty feet in height) The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, Paid Time Off, and parental leave.
