MQ Automation Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client in need of a MQ Automation Engineer in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain Chef cookbooks to automate MQ installs, upgrades, queue managers, and objects
• Build idempotent recipes/roles for consistent, repeatable deployments across environments
• Ensure configuration consistency across Dev, QA, and Prod
• Integrate Chef automation with CI/CD pipelines for MQ provisioning and updates
• Version, test, and promote cookbooks through controlled release processes
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and InSpec/kitchen tests
• Validate automation for performance, resiliency, and compliance
• Eliminate configuration drift through repeatable automation practices
• Provide L3 support for MQ automation issues
• Contribute to automation standards, best practices, and frameworks

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in configuration management/IaC automation
• Strong hands-on experience with Chef (cookbooks, recipes, roles, environments)
• Working knowledge of IBM MQ administration (queue managers, channels, clustering, configuration)
• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git-based workflows)
• Experience with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket) The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role.

We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
