Position Description:
Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Senior Telecommunications / Network Infrastructure Engineer to support a highly secure enterprise environment in San Diego, CA . This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned network professional with expertise in enterprise networking, Layer 2-4 technologies, structured cabling, network infrastructure, and Cisco networking . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise network environments while ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable network infrastructure. This role is 100% onsite and requires an active Secret Clearance . Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support enterprise Layer 2-4 network infrastructure . Develop and maintain VLAN architectures , network segmentation, and secure switching environments. Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 technologies , including trunking, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and switching. Design and implement IP addressing, subnetting, and Layer 3 routing solutions. Configure and maintain routing protocols, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Quality of Service (QoS), and secure traffic flows. Diagnose and resolve network issues across OSI Layers 1-4 , identifying both physical and logical infrastructure problems. Perform network capacity planning, optimization, and performance analysis to support future infrastructure growth. Support enterprise fiber and copper network infrastructure following TIA/EIA structured cabling standards . Create and maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and infrastructure records. Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to maintain highly available and secure network environments. Required Skills & Education Required Qualifications Active Secret Clearance . One current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification , including one of the following: Security+ CySA+ CCNA Security
GSEC GICSP SSCP
8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
Strong expertise with:
Enterprise networking (Layers 1-4) VLAN design and implementation Layer 2 switching technologies Layer 3 routing Routing protocols IP addressing and subnetting ACLs QoS Enterprise network troubleshooting Extensive experience with structured cabling , fiber optic, and copper network infrastructure. Proven experience troubleshooting both physical and logical network environments. Strong understanding of network security best practices and enterprise infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications Cisco CCNP certification or higher (or equivalent). Experience supporting classified or secure government environments . Experience with fiber backbone design and data center infrastructure deployments . Experience using network monitoring, management, and infrastructure documentation tools. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
