Job Description

ProInfoNet is seeking a skilled Network Operations Technician II to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting ProInfoNet and client network environments to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing network operations. The ideal candidate is analytical, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll work with a variety of networking technologies to resolve complex issues, support critical infrastructure, and help deliver exceptional service to organizations across Maine and beyond.
What You'll Do:
Monitor network performance and respond to alerts related to connectivity, latency, outages, and service degradation. Troubleshoot and resolve network issues involving routing, switching, VPN connectivity, wireless networks, and WAN services. Serve as the escalation point for complex network-related issues from Tier 1 Technicians. Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and SD-WAN devices. Perform VLAN configuration, routing updates, firewall rule modifications, and basic network optimization. Support WAN circuits, failover testing, and coordinate with carriers and vendors to resolve service issues. Assist with firmware updates, patching, configuration backups, and ongoing network maintenance. Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, device configurations, and IP address management. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident documentation. Collaborate with Senior Network Engineers on complex technical issues, infrastructure improvements, and implementation projects. Assist with network upgrades, migrations, and new site deployments. Mentor and support Tier 1 Technicians through technical guidance and knowledge sharing. Create and maintain knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting documentation. Follow established change management processes, ensuring proper documentation and approvals. Contribute to departmental service level objectives, including response times, issue resolution, and network reliability.
What You Bring:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure or working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment. Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPN technologies, SD-WAN, and enterprise networking equipment. Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching. Experience troubleshooting network performance issues such as latency, packet loss, and connectivity disruptions. Familiarity with network monitoring platforms such as LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar tools. Working knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills. Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, or other relevant networking certifications preferred.
