Job Description

Job Title:
MES Network Architect Location:
Minnetonka, Minnesota (Onsite)
Summary:
The MES Network Architect will define and govern the site and global network architecture for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and adjacent Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) services. This role is critical in leading the design and implementation of secure, segmented, and highly available connectivity between the shop floor and enterprise systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Define and govern the network architecture for MES and related OT/IT services. Lead the design and implementation of secure and segmented industrial network patterns, including zones and DMZs. Establish and maintain high availability and performance standards for network connectivity. Conduct capacity planning and network design to support current and future manufacturing needs. Implement security-by-design principles and ensure compliance with best practices for OT/IT networks. Manage stakeholder relationships with site operations, cybersecurity teams, and vendors. Translate manufacturing requirements into standards and reference designs. Create clear documentation, including standards, diagrams, and runbooks for knowledge transfer. Lead design reviews and change governance processes to ensure alignment with architectural standards. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues related to QoS and availability.
Mandatory Skills:
Strong knowledge of L2/L3 routing and switching. Proficiency in network design and capacity planning. Experience with segmented industrial network patterns and secure remote access. Familiarity with common industrial and IP protocols relevant to MES environments. Expertise in high availability, QoS, and performance troubleshooting. Understanding of security-by-design and compliance best practices for OT/IT networks.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in stakeholder management and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proven leadership skills in design reviews and governance processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in network architecture, specifically in MES or industrial environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
