Job Description

E-logic is seeking a senior-level Network Engineer III to serve as a primary technical advisor and engineer driving the operations, infrastructure design, and security posture of the USFS Missoula Discovery Network (DNMS). This role blends advanced Cisco network engineering, specialized network firewall management (Cisco Firepower-1150), and strict federal cybersecurity compliance to maintain an air-gapped environment optimized for high-bandwidth scientific data transfer. Key Responsibilities & Duties Install, configure, optimize, and troubleshoot critical network hardware, including Cisco switches, wireless access points, and a Cisco Firepower-1150 security appliance. Manage public/internal IP address spaces, subnets, and VLAN assignments. Actively collaborate with the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to update the network's ATO package and address Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) resolutions. Attend weekly Vulnerability Management Meetings and apply zero-day threat mitigations within 24 hours of identification. Implement Multifactor Authentication (MFA), manage SSL certificates from the domain CA, maintain secure Active Directory-integrated VPN configurations, and analyze centralized log data and critical counters. Author and maintain architectural network topography maps, system diagrams, and vendor end-of-life (EOL/EOS) schedules. Provide engineering cost estimates and technology strategy roadmaps to lab leadership and CIO investment managers. Minimum Qualifications Must be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible to obtain a USDA LincPass (HSPD-12 PIV card) . Comprehensive experience with Cisco enterprise network hardware (switches, firewalls, routers), federal Information System Security guidelines (NIST/USDA policy), and cross-town fiber environments.
