Job Description

Senior Network/Communications Engineer Place of Performance:
Atlantic City, NJ (onsite required — no flexibility)
Role Summary:
Designs, configures, and maintains the enterprise network infrastructure supporting real-time radar and surveillance data distribution to DoD, DHS, and LE stakeholders, with deep expertise in high-availability architectures, wide-area network operations, and disaster recovery for mission-critical NAS systems.
Critical Job Functions:
Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers supporting surveillance data distribution Implement HA and failover capabilities including redundant paths, dual-homing, HSRP/VRRP, and distributed load balancing to support 99.999% availability target Develop and maintain network disaster recovery strategies including alternate routing, cloud failover, and recovery site connectivity; ensure low-latency failover across distributed and hybrid/cloud environments Provide engineering support for radar distribution over wide-area networks — ensuring real-time delivery, synchronization, and redundancy of radar data to DoD, DHS, and LE stakeholders across operational sites Develop network testing plans for simulated outages; conduct periodic DR drills and failover testing to validate disaster recovery and failover readiness Maintain technical documentation for recovery workflows including network diagrams with failover and recovery paths; deliver network disaster recovery strategies and enterprise network infrastructure documentation when directed by COR Define, manage, and track network configuration items (topology diagrams, configurations) within client's infrastructure in coordination with the CM team; ensure all changes are planned, tracked, validated, and reversible per the client Change Management Policy Perform patch management and preventive/corrective maintenance for network devices; perform security maintenance tasks including vulnerability remediation and CIS compliance verification (Tasks 7) Provide Tier 2/3 on-call network support per the Help Desk schedule (Mon-Fri 6:00-11:00 pm ET on-call; Sat-Sun 8:00 am-5:00 pm ET on-call) as directed Participate in weekly cross-over meetings with the Program Office; provide weekly status report updates, engineering artifacts, and quarterly progress reports Conduct requirements analysis, gap analysis, and system trade-off studies to support network architecture decisions; provide recommendations for technology modernization and risk mitigation
