Job Description
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships. The Information Technology Services Division oversees critical projects and technological initiatives within the NYPD. They maintain and enhance the department's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and workstations. Notably, ITSD has rolled out various advancements, such as equipping officers with cellular phones applications and digitizing department forms to improve efficiency. ITSD is seeking a candidate for the position of Senior IT Architect who will act in the role of Network Solutions Architect and who will be responsible for the following:
- Design/Architect Network solutions for cloud and hybrid connectivity
WAN/LAN, SD-WAN.
- Set up Disaster Recovery (DR) and Highly Available (HA) Network environments and develop and maintain IT architecture diagrams of enterprise, business, data, security and/or technology architecture for IT solutions, concepts and strategies to meet business requirements for target audiences.
- Develop and install monitoring applications for network equipment including, but not limited to, Network Switches, Firewalls using various off-the box monitoring tools.
- Work across Sections and Divisions helping troubleshoot perceived network issues with application owners.
- Implement authentication, MFA and authorization using Azure AD and related Azure Services.
- Implement application Data Center and Infrastructure; hardware lifecycle planning, virtualization, network fabrics, load balancing, capacity and performance tuning.
- Confirm adherence of applications, components and services to establish standards and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with architecture standards and guidelines throughout the application development life cycle.
