Job Description

Sweed Machinery | Gold Hill, OR (Southern Oregon) Sweed Machinery is a globally recognized manufacturer of industrial recycling, reduction, and material handling equipment. For over 60 years, we've built innovative, custom machinery for customers across North America and around the world. We're seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to join our growing engineering team. What You'll Do Develop, troubleshoot, and refine PLC programs and HMI screens for industrial automation systems (primarily Allen-Bradley platforms). Integrate controls with customer equipment and third-party systems. Commission, test, and support equipment at customer sites. Configure and tune VFDs, servo systems, and related automation hardware. Collaborate with sales, engineering, production, suppliers, and customers throughout projects. What We're Looking For 4+ years of industrial automation and controls experience. Strong PLC, HMI, networking, and VFD programming/troubleshooting skills. Experience with Allen-Bradley platforms preferred. Ability to read technical drawings and specifications. Strong communication and customer-facing skills. Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience. Willingness to travel up to 40% throughout the U.S. and Canada.
