Network Engineer Location Portland, OR 97219 Date Posted April 17, 2026 Job ID 14464 Employment Type Contract Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Network Engineer for our client, a fully accredited laboratory specializing in a range of health-related testing services. This is a contract position based onsite in Portland, OR.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to support and maintain our client's network infrastructure within a general office and lab environment. This role will work closely with Desktop Support, Quality Analysts, external consultants, and the Lab IT Systems Engineer to ensure reliable, secure, and well-documented network operations. RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, and related infrastructure Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and hardware-level issues Assist with network design, implementation, and upgrades Manage and support Microsoft 365 cloud environment, including user access, security, and integrations Work closely with Quality Analysts to support compliance, testing, and validation requirements Create and maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and procedures Collaborate with external consultants and internal engineering teams, especially during the initial onboarding period Support lab and office environments with stable and secure network connectivity Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network-related issues
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience 3+ years of experience working with network infrastructure and hardware Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and cloud services Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP) Experience configuring and managing network switches and related hardware Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and cloud-based systems Strong documentation and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in lab or regulated environments Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365 security features Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+, Microsoft certifications) Experience working alongside consultants or third-party vendors
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
